Does the Main Stream Media Really Understand Romney is Having Trouble with Conservatives? Oh Yea, Only Too Well!

I was reading on RedState.Com a little while ago and saw an article by Erick Erickson more or less titled that the Republican base does not like Mitt Romney and why can't the main stream media understand that? I like RedState and Erick a lot to be honest but he missed the boat on this to a certain degree. The main stream media knows conservatives don't want Romney, they also know that Obama is taking on water. The term I like to use is called "positioning". Notice the attacks they launch at the drop of a hat on conservatives in the race and how Ron Paul goes seemingly untouched most times. Ever wonder why that is? How hard have they really gone after Romney so far?

The left and liberals in this country are starting to have legitimate concerns over Obama getting re-elected, as they should. Their worst nightmare would be that a true conservative gets elected along with a Republican majority in the congress. The left knows that they have pushed the envelope as far as they know how and that they have angered and alienated a large portion of the American public. Having a conservative come into office with a mandate to undo what they have done such as Obamacare is a scenario they truly fear. With someone more "moderate" like Romney they think the damage won't be so severe. As such the media is simply trying to foster a moderate Republican as the more or less anointed candidate. What Erick did point out accurately is that Romney is favored by inside the beltway Republicans, not the rank and file.

As for Ron Paul, everyone and I do mean everyone including him, knows he is not getting the nomination nor is he getting elected. Ron Paul is the favorite poster child for the left wing media, he shows how "kooky" conservatives are and he sucks up oxygen in a room which keeps other legitimate candidates off the air. The more they are talking about someone who can't win the less they are talking about someone who really can. How many times does Paul need to run before people get the idea he knows going out the door he is not winning. Paul knows his ideas are not Tea Party hits as you would be lead to believe listening to the media. Paul knows his foreign policy is a pacifist dream and a disaster for this country as things now stand. Paul also knows dropping the blame for 9-11 at America's feet is a non starter, but yet he continues and the main stream press is more than happy to cover him, so why is that? When the left has a nut job running around like Dennis Kucinich he gets shut down fast as soon as he may actually start to hurt their candidate, in this case Obama. Why not Ron Paul, Kucinich is painted as someone who can't win and over the top, and the difference is what?

The media is not liking the strong showing the conservatives are putting up, be it with Santorum or Newt, they simply don't like it. They fear eight or more years of a conservative agenda rolling back and then going further into, on all their favorite programs let alone what they just accomplished. Their view is simple, at least with Romney the fear level is knocked down a bit because he did after all invent Romenycare, he is not the most pro-gun nor pro-life person out there and he is of course a Mormon with ties to big business so they always have those lines of attack against him. The true attack on whom ever gets the nomination will come and the best the left can hope for is that Paul will run yet again as a third party candidate and take whatever votes he can from the Republican nominee, thus furthering their goal.

No, I don't believe the main stream media doesn't understand the Republican/conservative base doesn't like Romney, I think they understand it all too well.

I wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and holiday season. As a nation we have a long way to go but compared to most we are truly blessed. Spend some time with family and friends, slow down a bit and enjoy what you have and what you value most. If you are serving our nation in the military and can't be home for the holidays just know that millions of Americans are with you and thank you for your service.

There will be time in the coming days for politics, the economy and other problems but for right now celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and don't worry about the Toys R Us or Wal Mart commercials for the after Christmas sales. There will be plenty of time for that as well.

What Does the European Union, Socialism, Obama, the New World Order and the US Economy Have in Common? You Might Be Surprised!

Lets talk about Europe and our economy, such that it is. We have all heard how what happens in Europe will affect us, we have heard that European debt could bring down the world economy. What you don't hear is how it got this way and why the European Union even exists to begin with. Americans are familiar with the term "European styled Socialism". We have all hear people talk about the "New World Order", right? What if I told you it is all tied together and was meant to be for the past five decades or so? The European Union, Obama, Socialism and the New World Order all have something in common. You might be surprised what that is and how it is causing an issue today.

To understand the problem you need to understand how it became a problem, how was it allowed to form in the beginning? The crisis right now in Europe is over how to save the European Union, period. This "union" was a dream that came into being after the end of the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union. think back and remember what in Europe was called the "peace dividend". That would be the same peace dividend that John Kerry was speaking about in his early Senate career. The concept is simple, its the micro version of the New World Order scenario. The idea is more or less to tie all of the country's of Europe together in an economic framework so they become dependent on each other for survival. The idea was to tie them together to the point they can't start a war with each other. It's simple, the concept was designed to prevent another world war. The European Union itself and the Euro are the product or mechanism to make this happen. The big crisis now is that there is a real fear the union will break up. At the core of this mess is Germany and France, the two great economic powers in Europe. The two countries have decided if they are to put their money into the pot to bail out nations like Greece, Spain, Portugal and Italy they want greater control in return. If they don't bail them out the Euro could collapse and so with it the E-U.

As you can imagine other counties aren't so fond of this idea. Europe as a whole and individual governments in particular have fostered and developed the entire socialism way of life so as to tie people to each other and to the governments of the countries in which they live. Those governments are in turn tied to other governments inside the European Union. Which is the concept with making it economic suicide for a country to go to war with it's neighbor. Many on the left believe that socialism is the only and or best way Europe can survive and unfortunately for us, that idea has crept into the United States. We have long talked about Obama and his desire to create a European Style health care system or his overt socialist bent. If we go back only a few decades being called a socialist would have been the kiss of death politically for someone yet today we have a socialist in the White House. The media and the left don't even bother to argue the point anymore, how sad is that?

Back to Europe. As I said this is more or less the New World Order concept on a smaller scale. Countries, corporations and big business have wanted to form eco-political ties for decades. Americans have all heard about the defense industry and the military industrial complex, well this is the real industrial complex on a global scale. The European Union is exactly that, only on the European continent. In 2007 and 2008 when congress approved the bank bailouts and TARP, hundreds of billions of American dollars, American tax payer dollars, went to European banks to keep them from collapsing, which was seen as the greater threat. The idea was to keep Europe afloat, plain and simple. Counties like Ireland and Iceland couldn't be saved simply because there was not enough money to go around. Now with most of southern Europe sliding in the same direction and being the socialist/communist organization it is the European Union has a plan. This plan involves getting counties like Germany and France who are still viable to put in more money, that would be spreading the wealth in Obama speak, to bail out other countries who don't have any money and can't pay their bills. In America we call that bailing out the car companies, welfare, TARP, HUD, the Stimulus Bill, free student loans, free child care, free health care, public education, food stamps, low income housing and a few other social programs I can't think of. The point is that Europe has all these programs as well as they are having the same problem we are, they can't pay for them either.

The fear is the European Union will go belly up and countries will have to start dealing with each other without having one hand tied behind their back. More or less if country "a" doesn't have the money country "b" doesn't have to give them whatever it is they want. And that is the exact worry in a nut shell. This has happened before a few times in the past like in 1913 and 1914 and then again in the early 1930's. The concept is a simple one, you trade peace for freedom. I have also heard a wise man who said that he who trades freedom for security deserves neither.

Kim Jong Il is dead, so what? That's the real truth that no one wants to talk about. Lets be honest for a minute. The odds are about 100 percent one of his three sons will be the new "glorious leader" in the next ten days or so. Do you really believe that despite what Obama and Hillary would have you believe, that all of a sudden things are going to be peachy? I think not. North Korea is still North Korea, with or without Kim, at least in the near term.

Lets be honest about something else. The world without Kim Jong Il in it is a better place. How many hundreds of thousands of people has he enslaved, tortured or murdered? Will we ever really know? The fact is that Kim was a lunatic that got his hands on atomic weapons and that used those weapons to threaten an entire region. Kim helped spread nuclear weapons technology as well as missile components throughout the world, that's not entirely true. He only did it with countries that hate America. People should pray for the poor souls who still live in North Korea, Kim Jong Il belongs in hell.

The truth is that North Korea is a backwards nation that poses a threat to its friends and enemies alike and will until it is disarmed. It oppresses its own people and kills South Koreans every few months just for sport. Kim Jong Il Dead? What took so long!

Romney and Obama Share More than Common Ideas on Health Care - Now They Want You to Believe They Are the Underdogs Coming from Behind

I heard something today that struck me as odd. I was listening to Fox News this morning and heard them say that Mitt Romney now admits that Newt Gingrich is the front runner. Give me a break. Romney thinks and has thought for at least two years now that the Republican nomination is his for the taking. A week ago he told Fox News he was looking to more or less put the wraps on the nomination in the next few weeks. So now Newt is the front runner? So now Romney wants you to believe he is the underdog, struggling and coming from behind. As I said, give me a break.

This is more likely Romney trying to be the underdog. The concept of coming from behind is one that has been tried by everyone since the dawn of time. Everybody loves to cheer on the guy who is coming from behind, fighting to catch up, just holding on, its almost human nature to get behind them. I have heard the liberals and the main stream media claiming Obama is the underdog. Now Romney claims he is the underdog. Other than sharing their health care plans, Obama and Romney now also share the "I'm not the front runner" slogan. They each want to get their supporters to the polls and they are afraid that if their people think the election is in the bag they won't come out. Take a look at the money these two have raised to see who is really behind.

It may be true that one may not get the nomination and the other may loose the election but I can assure you that neither of those two really believe that at this point. They just want you to so you come out and support them.

Conservatives know that a Third Party Candidate Spells Another Four Years for Obama

Conservatives know the the truth, what truth you might ask? The truth is that having a third party run a candidate spells another four years of Obama. All the good intentions aside, replacing Obama is the primary goal of this election, nothing else. Ron Paul and all the Libertarian candidates combined can't get enough votes under the best of circumstances to replace Obama and they know it.

Liberals run candidates based on who can win, conservatives look for what person best reflects their views. Now in the theoretical world that sounds good, but in the real world winning matters. Look, Ron Paul is a Libertarian, as a matter of fact he is the poster boy for Libertarians. So that being the case, why does he hold office and run for office as a Republican? The answer is because he wants to win, period. In the case of Paul he also knows he stands no chance of getting the GOP nomination so he runs, every presidential election, as a Libertarian. I think the latest poll to come out shows his Tea Party support at about seven percent. Seven, not twenty seven or thirty seven, just plain old seven.

The idea of a third party needs no further explanation than William Jefferson Clinton and Ross Perot. Did you know that Clinton never gained the majority during either of his presidential elections? Who do you suppose Ross Perot took votes from? I think most would agree that it wasn't from the Liberals on the left. His little run for office in which he knew he could never prevail in by the way, cost this nation eight years of Clinton. The highest tax increase in the history of the nation, the assault weapons ban, the rise of Islamic terrorism, perjury, tax evasion, Waco, Ruby Ridge, the USS Cole, the first World Trade Center bombing, White Water and the topping on the cake, the Community Re-investment Act which lead directly to the real estate collapse which as we know landed us here. All this and more can be laid at the feet of the third party darling, Perot.

The idea of a third party is fine, but lets start with having a third party from the left. Maybe they could field a candidate that could take away seventeen percent of the vote as Perot did, only this time from Obama. Make no mistake about it, the left and their friends in the main stream media want a third party challenger in the race in the worst way. Regardless of what they may be saying to the outside world they know Obama is in serious trouble as long as the conservative base stays together behind one candidate. Right now we can't afford another four years of Obama. Right now the perfect can not become the enemy of the good.

The problem Mitt Romney is having with conservatives is that he is Mitt Romney. You see most people know when someone is spinning and when it comes to health care, AKA Obamacare, Romney is spinning like a washing machine. Most people also know that if his own Romneycare program in his state of Massachusetts had been successful he would be out there taking credit for it, but alas, it is helping to bankrupt the state.

Sure, Romney has his supporters like Glenn Beck who try to use the Romney campaign line about how "Mitt sees it as a states rights issue" and how "each state should be able to make its own decision and not have the Federal Government force it on them". A message they hope will connect with conservatives on two fronts, states rights and health care. Again though, they have big issues like convincing people that Romney, even if we take him at is word, doesn't support government run health care. His own bill when he was governor speaks louder than anything anyone can say. The government option is the basis for Romneycare and he knows it, only in his bill it is state government, not the federal government doing it.

Government run health care is not a popular concept with the American public and Romney knows it but he still wants to be president so he simply is trying to sidestep the obvious. Romney can not claim he does not support government run health care because he did it as governor. How the race will shake out I do not know, but I do know this. At some point Romney will need to give straight answers before he gets the conservative vote he needs so badly.

The New Jobless Claims Show Obama's Spread the Wealth Plan is Working Just Fine, For Obama that Is

Here is a little scary food for thought. The new jobless claims numbers came out today for the previous week as they do every Thursday. They went back up by about 6000 new claims to come in at approximately 402,000. This number represents the number of people filing first time unemployment insurance claims. These people fall into what is called the Obama spread the wealth plan and its seems to be working just fine. Go ahead and ask him.

Here is the scary part. If the numbers keep moving in the direction they are they will fall to about 318,000 which is where the numbers were in 2007 before the recession hit. Sounds good right? The problem is that it will take about 2 years to get there. To keep this in perspective the economy needs to create 125,000 to 150,000 news jobs every month just to keep up with the growth in the work force.

In simple English, it could take approximately seven years to regain the lost jobs if the economy started producing 250,000 jobs a month. So when was the last time the economy created those kind of numbers? Back in the bad old Bush days, before Obama arrived to save us all. I know, maybe we could have another Stimulus Bill or two, yea, that should fix it. Somebody get the White House on the phone.

Believe it or not, right now is the most dangerous Obama will ever be to the Constitution of the United States. That's right, today. Why is that you might ask? Simple, Obama and the entire left in this country knows he is in trouble and Obama's advisers are telling him he needs to firm up his base, such as it is. By firming up his base they mean pandering to the far left and their way out of the main stream causes.

Look at the immigration issue for example. His orders to not deport illegal aliens in the country unless they are violent felons is nothing but back door amnesty and we all know it. He needs the Hispanic vote. His almost outright endorsement of the "Occupy" protesters is yet another example of his wanting the votes of a far far left group of mostly young, think college age, people who don't have jobs anyway and whose parents are supporting their socialist rants against the capitalist monster.

Lets look to gun control. Why would Obama have the State Department via a trade sanction stop the re-importation of old World War Two and Korean War vintage M-1 Carbines and Garand rifles. They hardly qualify as assault weapons but in the statement released by the State Department and Hillary Clinton, they didn't want these type of weapons falling into the wrong hands and being used in violent crimes, since everybody I know uses an 8 shot internal magazine fed 30-06 caliber rifle in their drive-by shootings. Yea right, give me a break. This is yet again more pandering for votes from the anti-gun movement.

As this election season heats up he will get even more desperate and nothing can be considered out or his grasp. The economy isn't working, the unemployment situation isn't getting any better, the Iranians are about to get the bomb and the debt keeps piling up and oh by the way, he is running for re-election in less than a year. No, there is no reason in the world to worry he might do something desperate is there?

Forget Michele Bachmann, What about Pakistan's Nuke's?

Last week the liberal media was having a field day trying to say that Michele Bachmann somehow revealed classified information during a Republican debate. The issue was an answer she gave concerning Pakistan and its nuclear weapons program. Bachmann said that six of the nuclear weapons sites had come under attack by Islamic insurgents, think Taliban.

While the main stream media was busy trying to cause a controversy about nothing no one noticed the real issue about what she said. The facts are not classified, they are just not reported widely so the public doesn't get them. The fact is that Pakistan's nuclear program is located at 15 different sites that we know of. Of those 15 sites there were incidents at least 6 times where a site came under attack by the Taliban or related groups.

These attacks included a bus bombing and the bombing of a munitions factory located next to a nuclear weapons facility. Bachmann simply stated the correct information which the media wanted to act stunned and surprised by hearing it out loud. Anyone who wants to do a little research could have found much the same information on line. The U.S. military no doubt has plans in place to secure the nukes should such an attack look like it was going to succeed. Then again our military ability is not the issue, our intelligence gathering on the other hand is. We as a nation may not know until it is too late.

The point is the main stream media was so busy trying to attack and create controversy about a conservative Republican saying anything, they completely blew by the real story which is that Pakistan, a nuclear state, has a very real threat of Islamic fundamentalist's taking control of at least some of it's nuclear weapons arsenal. The idea that a terrorist organization has the ability to get its hands on nuclear weapons has long been a fear of the United States and most of the rest of the world, what this incident shows is that it may be much closer to happening than anyone cares to admit.

The Soviet Union, Oops Sorry, The Russians are Missing the Cold War a Bit it Seems

It looks like the Russians are wishing they had the Cold War to fall back on when it comes to scaring their own people. The Russian President, Dmitry Medvedev is out making statements that Russia will target the U.S. military interceptor missiles in Eastern Europe if there is not some kind of concessions to Russia by the United States and NATO before they go operational. The idea behind this missile shield for lack of a better term, is to protect much of Europe from a threat not posed by Russia but by Iran.

Medvedev is threatening to deploy missiles in, get this name, Kaliningrad which is located along the Baltic Sea near Poland. We can not forget how Obama sold out Poland a couple years back and pulled the plug on the Bush era missile shield agreement because of Soviet, sorry, Russian objections.

This entire issue is nothing but a sad commentary on how little respect much of the world has for our president. It is obvious that the interceptor missiles we are to be deploying are defensive in nature and pose no threat to Russia or anyone else for that matter. This is simply the Russians crying because they fear it will change the balance of power, such as it is, by rendering their threatened use of missiles impotent. Just a couple days ago we had a Russian Army General threatening that a regional conflict could go nuclear? Are these people nuts or what?

Does the Russian military really want to go toe to toe with the United States and NATO? I think not. The Russians are just missing the Cold War. Their government liked having the evil Americans and West to play off of. Don't get me wrong, trying to instill a sense of national pride is fine but making statements like this is why they became extinct in the first place. Some communists/socialists never learn, want more proof just take a look around.

The Stag Arms Model 2 - A Good Buy, A Good Shooter, A Good AR15 Period

The AR15 market is pretty crowded these days and now that prices have fallen a bit the good buys are out there if you really take the time to look. One such good buy is the Stag Arms Model 2 rifle. This rifle is more or less a standard A-3 AR15, chambered in 5.56mm with an M4 barrel profile and no carry handle, just a flip up rear sight. The rifle does however have the standard front sight post and features such as a forward bolt assist and dust cover, bayonet lug and dual front sling mounts so this is not a stripped down "sporter" version. The rifle has a 16" chrome lined barrel with a 1/9 rate of twist which is a good compromise for most shooters.

Stag Arms first made news making left handed AR15's which is how many people still think of them. One thing many people don't know is that Stag made the lower receivers for Smith&Wesson when they first started out with their M&P line of AR15's. What makes this Stag a nice rifle is two very important things, the first is it's price point and the second is how it shoots. On price this rifle has a suggested list price of $940.00 but it can be hand many times for around the $799.00 number, maybe a hair less depending on who is selling it. The rifles come in a plastic hard case, a 30 round magazine, an owners manual and Stag is putting in a mouse pad for your computer as a free gift as they call it. I does not come with a sling of any type.

As for shooting the weapon I took one out and put a Trijicon ACOG on top and sighted it in, first at 25 yards and then at 50. Sighting it in took all of 10 or 12 rounds. At 25 yards you could cover a 5 shot group with a dime. At 50 yards once I raised the point of impact on the scope it dropped 5 rounds into a nickle sized hole. As for ammunition I ran everything through it from Remington's 55 grain UMC to Federal's XM193 to some Radway Green SS109. The rifle fired a couple hundred rounds without a hitch or burp. I didn't use anything special as far as magazines went either, a couple TAPCO and Brownells mags and a couple factory Colt 30 rounders. None of these had any issues at all.

To be honest for less than $800.00 this rifle is a pretty good buy. The idea behind the number 2 is not having a carry handle which depending on what type of optic if any you mount on it would need to come off anyway. The flip up rear sight unit is passable but you could do much better with something like a Yankee Hill or Magpul unit. What you get for your money is a very serviceable rifle that is competitive with weapons costing a couple hundred dollars more. This is a great entry level AR15. it also is more than that. This Stag is just a good gun period.

The Best Home Defense Weapon? That's simple, a good 12 Gauge Pump Shotgun is the answer. People keep asking and I keep saying the same thing. The ease of use, the pure stopping power and outright intimidation make this type of weapon hard to beat when it comes to home defense. Combine those things with good price points and versatility and it should not be hard to see why it's always a top choice. Don't forget the ability to buy and use a large variety of rounds such as gas rounds, rubber shot, door buster rounds and so on.

The honest answer is that when it comes to home defense you need the weapon to be very simple, almost "cop proof" so to speak. The pump is certainly that. The weapon needs to be brutally effective and few would argue a 12 gauge isn't effective with the proper loads. The nice thing about this type of weapon is that it has versatility built in. You change from a short barreled home defense weapon to a longer barreled hunting weapon, you can put a rifled barrel on it and go hunting for any game in North America. Even in big bear country the weapon is a top choice for many guides and hikers.

With a good load such a 00 Buckshot or #4 Buckshot it is unbeatable as a home defense weapon. At ranges under about 25 or 30 feet it is devastating, if you are locked in your bedroom and some foul person kicks in the door, one round in the doorway should pretty much end any intention the person has to continue his assault, assuming he is still breathing that is. A doorway is called the "fatal funnel" with good reason, it makes a nice picture frame for you to point at. Which brings me to another point, pointing that is. Aiming a pistol at someone in the dark could be a little difficult under stress for most people, the shotgun gives you the advantage of being able to point the weapon instead of precisely aiming it.

The reason for selecting a pump version again is pretty simple. It has the ability for fire multiple rounds as compared to a single shot or a double barrel. As for semiautomatic weapons they are great but tend to be more complicated to work and ensuring the weapon functions with the loads you want to use becomes a must. As I said, buckshot is the first choice but many people don't use it maybe for over penetration reasons, so using a shell with less power comes into play. With a semiautomatic they don't always cycle the weapon reliably. As for a "good" shotgun the brand is not what I am here to sell you on, suffice it to say Remington is in more police vehicles than anything close in second and Mossberg has been used by the U.S. military for decades now. Which brand you choose, new or used is up to you. Make sure you are buying a solid weapon in good condition if it is used, one that has not been abused.

If you get your hands on a good 12 gauge pump hearing a bump in the night is something you will not need to fear as long as you are willing to use it. As I have said many times, Werewolves can only be killed with a silver bullet but I would bet anything you have that if you put a 12 gauge barrel in it's face and pull the trigger he will be gumming you to death if he can see you, as his head won't be where it was located before you pulled the trigger. As for Zombie's, well you know that answer.....................................

Three Occupy Protesters Arrested for making Improvised Explosive Devices to Confront Police With - Yea Thats Just Like the Tea Party Right?

Lets see here, on Sunday three Occupy Portland protesters were arrested by local police for having some marijuana and drug paraphernalia in their car, which was stopped for speeding. OK, no big deal right? When sheriff's deputies found some homemade improvised explosive devices in the car as well things got a little more interesting.

It seems three young men, Emery Luff (21), William Patterson (21) and Zachary Salzwedel-Kemp (20) were on the way to the Occupy Portland encampment because they knew the local authorities were saying the camp out had to end. These three decided they would use the "mortars" inside glass Mason jars like hand grenades. One admitted the idea was to throw them at the police when/if they tried to clear the camp. For everyone who wondered how these Occupy protesters compared to the Tea Party organization simply think about it this way. Did you ever hear of a case when a Tea Party group actually planned to confront and attack law enforcement? You and I both know that if the media could have found such a story they would run it until the end of time. Municipalities are using bulldozers just to clear the trash left by these protests, when the Tea Party groups left a site is was cleaner than when they got there.

Again consider this, these three were 20 and 21 years old, how much could the giant corporate machine have damaged them? I suppose it was enough to warrant making improvised explosive devices to confront the police with.

Can you believe a congressman actually thinks Obama's immigration policies are nothing but a backdoor version of amnesty? My only question is what took so long for someone to say something? Seems a member of congress named Michael McCaul (R-Texas) finally said what everyone in the country knew, Obama can't get his open border amnesty plans through congress and he needs the votes so he is doing amnesty via executive order and internal policy.

The Homeland Security News Wire featured an interview with the Texas Congressman in which he made clear his view that Obama and DHS (the Department of Homeland Security) is ignoring technology and equipment that has been used successfully along the Pakistan/Afghanistan border by the U.S.Military. McCaul also said we need boots on the ground combined with new and available technology to secure our Southern border with Mexico. The idea that this open border is not a national security issue is plain crazy. There has been well documented proof of the Mexican Drug Cartels as well as terrorist groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah using the porous border to traffic weapons and drugs into and out of the United States.

One thing McCaul did bring to light is that Obama is permitting illegal aliens to apply for work permits if they aren't considered a violent criminal. Wait a minute, they are criminals simply by being here illegally aren't they? This is typical Obamanese, if the facts don't suite you change the subject. By saying they aren't violent people Obama and Napolitano sidestep the entire criminal issue by trying to portray them as being poor people who haven't done anything wrong. The fact is that they are illegal aliens, no matter how you look at it. Obama is simply creating an unofficial backdoor amnesty.

Can anyone really say with a straight face Obama isn't doing this on purpose? Or better yet, does anyone think he doesn't care about the Hispanic vote? I think not.

The TSA Warns Bus Bombings could be on the Way to America - I Guess this means The Global War on Terror Isn't Over After All

A few days ago America had the head of the TSA , (the Transportation Security Administration) John Pistole making statements after the TSA issued a warning bulletin to local and state law enforcement cautioning them about the increased risk if bus bombings and attacks on our mass transit system. The TSA bulletin warned of attacks against bus networks because of their accessibility and openness.

To make some kind of sense about this warning takes more than a little effort. Pistole said this warning is not being issued due to a specific threat, yet the warning was pretty specific in nature. To understand the threat people need to know that between 2004 and 2009 there were approximately 725 documented attacks on buses. The one that stands out the most is the 2005 London bus bombing that was pulled off by an Islamic suicide bomber. Then of course there are dozens of attacks that have been committed in Israel, again committed by Islamic terrorists.

Al-Qaeda lists bus bombings as one of its favorite type of targets to attack because of its simplicity and effectiveness. The Transportation Security Administration has long been warning of attacks by terrorists on America's mass transit system, including buses although most of the attention has been paid to trains and large trucks shipping hazardous or dangerous materials. The idea that TSA is now warning that bus bombings could be coming to America is just another indication that the Global War on Terror isn't over, even with Bin Laden dead.

Obama's Credibility Gap is Showing with Iran and Their Nuclear Weapons Plans

Obama is having a bit of an issue with Iran. It seems on one side he has his pals from Russia and China who won't back sanctions with any kind of meaning and on the other hand he has the rest of the free world asking why he isn't doing more to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons. The entire issue may become a moot point soon simply because it is appearing more and more likely Israel will do what Obama won't, and put an end to Iran's nuclear plans at least for now. Obama is now showing the credibility gap many have long talked about. The Iranians know he is not a credible threat, end of story.

The media around the world is all a buzz over a possible Israeli military move against Iran. Even the Iranians are talking about it now. Obama is actually saying now that "nothing is off the table", including military force. The problem for Obama is that the Iranians like the North Koreans and Syrians know that Obama's threat's are just that, threats. The issue is that they and much of the world has recognized Obama for what he is, an opportunist who looks for the easy win. Look at Libya, what exactly were we doing expending U.S. military power against a third world tin pot dictator who by Obama's own statements posed no direct threat to America. Crazy Kim in North Korea tested Obama out of the gate and found him coming up short. Kim knew from that point forward Obama was never going to touch him. The latest IAEA report claims Iran has been pursuing nuclear weapons, now that's a stunner. Obama's answer, more sanctions which he knows he can't get and even if he did it won't prevent the Iranians from moving forward as they and all the other despotic regimes throughout history have shown.

The Iranians observed this and have realized that unless they nuke an American city Obama is all talk. The reason things are getting interesting is that the Iranians are making progress and Israel knows it, they also know Obama will not stop them no matter what he claims, it is pure domestic politics. If Israel ends up bombing Iran it will be one persons fault more than any others, his name is Barack Hussein Obama. This is when the credibility gap really starts to show.

So it's now kinda obvious that Italy will join the ranks of Greece, Portugal and Ireland as far as failed European economies. The big hitters on Wall Street still think the odds are two or three to one that Europe will slide into another official recession. With a sixty or seventy percent chance that Europe will tank under all its debts, it should come as no big surprise that many Americans are now starting to see and understand how the "European Socialism" model works, or should I say doesn't. That's like saying that the Occupy protesters are just like the Tea Party folks, oh I forgot, according to the main stream media they are.

Italy took another big hit this week when it found itself looking at interest rates well over seven percent, which all the experts concede is unsustainable. Italy has $2.6 trillion dollars in debt which it has piled up with very few options to pay it. The Italian Premier, Silvio Berlusconi had enough and resigned. The issue Americans are facing is that more and more European nations are having financial issues just servicing their debt. Americans also know that the model they all worked on was a state run and state centered system of social welfare. These countries offer free education, free medical care, guaranteed jobs and retirement and even in some cases a nice place to live. While it all sounds great there is only one problem, they don't have any money to pay for it.

Europe has huge tax levels, but no matter how high they tax in the end there just isn't enough money to pay for it all. Obama's redistribution of wealth concept is this system simply by another name. Many call that socialism. Why is this so important now? Simple. Next year we as a nation will choose a new leader. Americans can plainly see now how Obama's version of things work as we appear to be entering a "Lost Decade" much as Japan did a few years back. America faces high unemployment rates, low growth and exploding debt along with record levels of families on food stamps, other than that everything is just peachy. Don't forget the "occupy" protesters marching around shooting themselves and raping each other. Yea, they really are like all those nasty, bad and evil Tea Party people aren't they? In the end we as a nation simply can't afford another four years of Obama.

We have a choice, we can take the Obama path which is modeled after what many call European style Socialism, or we can do what we as Americans do best and that is simply lead the free world with our creativity, entrepreneurial spirit and a will for freedom and Capitalism that won't be broken. Lowering taxes and limiting the size of government probably wouldn't hurt either. Come to think of it that's what the Tea Party was talking about wasn't it?

A Few Thoughts on Militia's and Islamic Terrorism and the Media

I don't know about you but I think many people are getting a little tired of how the left leaning main stream media portrays militia groups. In all honesty there are a few people out there who claim they are "militia members" and they do plot and plan acts that could be construed as terrorism, such as the group of four or five just arrested recently in Georgia. But, and this is when people start getting upset, the federal government and news media would have you believe that militia groups are a giant threat to the United States itself and that Islamic terrorism is just a phobia that Americans suffer from.

The truth is much different however and the media does everything it can to hide that truth to the casual observer. Whenever anyone with any possible link to anything even closely resembling a militia gets arrested the main stream media pulls out the tried and true story on how many guns they had and how they were all white men who were mad at the government and upset with society in general. They point to causes for this supposed anger such as illegal immigration and the unsecured border with Mexico. The claim is that these are white men who are just mad because they are more or less not getting their way "anymore". Whatever that is supposed to mean.

When it comes to Islamic terrorism the media would have you believe that it is almost non-existent. When a group or cell does get arrested the coverage lasts for one day and then its all gone, to be heard of no more. You might say its because the federal government does not want to spread panic or you might say they don't want people to become Islam-o-phobic. Those arguments make sense except that when you look back to 9-11 and the days and months after that, its hard to find cases when the media could report on Muslims being harassed or discriminated against. I'm sure if you looked hard there were some incidents but no one claimed that Muslims were being hunted down and rounded up or terrorized just for being a Muslim.

People need to understand and keep in mind that until the 1990's and Bill Clinton with his assaults on Waco and Ruby Ridge, combined with his outright assault on gun rights, militia groups were few a far between. More and more people began to fear their own government and looked to militia groups as a possible hedge against what they were beginning to see as a tyrannical government overreaching its authority given to it by the U.S.Constitution. That fear became ever present with the election of Barack Hussein Obama in 2008.

Those worries got bigger after seeing and hearing about the Department of Homeland Security telling local law enforcement agencies about how gun owners, pro-life groups and even returning veterans were now all potential domestic terrorists in waiting. Nowhere in those memo's did they mention the very real threat of Islamic terrorism. Never mind incidents like the Times Square Bomber, the Underwear Bomber and the Fort Hood shooting all being carried out by Islamic terrorists. Never mind the two U.S.Army recruiters that were shot down or the group that tried to bomb Fort Dix or maybe the group that thought they bought surface to air missiles in New York to shoot down Air National Guard aircraft. No, these issues were not being followed up on by the media, they were just being made to go away. Maybe to help carry Obama's water, maybe out of apathy, who knows.

What I do know is that most Americans on any given day would tell you they worry a hell of a lot more about Islamic extremists committing a terrorist act than they do a militia group. Oh by the way, there is one other big difference. The militia groups all claim they are trying to defend America and protect the Constitution, the Islamic terrorists want to kill you simply because you are an American and they are at war with us. Whether Obama thinks they are or not really doesn't matter, to them or the rest of us who know better.

The Number One Selling Vehicle in America for 2011 - A big win for Americans and a kick in the Teeth for Obama

A report came out a couple days ago that showed the best selling vehicle in America for 2011, anybody want to take a guess at what it was? This vehicle is a big win for the Americans and freedom and our way of life in general and at the same time it is a kick in the teeth for Obama and his left wing utopia.

The number one selling vehicle in the country was the Ford F Series pickup trucks. Why is this such a big deal you might ask? How about Ford being the only domestic auto company that didn't take any government money or get bailed out via a staged bankruptcy? Also consider this, Obama and his left wing band of socialist tree huggers want more than anything else to see us driving little "green" machines around, not those big gas guzzling trucks and SUV's. It looks like Americans responded as they normally do, with independence and the freedom of choice.

When you look at the fact that the number one selling vehicle was the Ford F Series of trucks and then see that the number two vehicle was the Chevrolet Silverado line of trucks followed up by the number ten vehicle on the list being the Ram truck line, one could get the idea that America kind of said "to hell" with team Obama's plans and spoke with their wallets about how they view transportation for themselves and their families. So one, two and ten on the list were full size trucks, no doubt most in four wheel drive to boot. Not exactly what Obama had in mind is it?

Oh yea, in the middle of that list Ford had an SUV along with a small car. For a company that refused to be bought off and owe its soul to the unions and federal government, that's not too bad at all.

Never take a Pistol to a Gunfight if you Have a Rifle Instead - Truer Words have Never Been Spoken that affect the Chances of Your Survival

There is an old saying, "never take a knife to a gunfight". That makes sense, try this one: "Never take a Pistol to a Gunfight if you have a rifle". Or better yet, " If I have a pistol I will use it to get a rifle". I tend to like that one the most because honestly it is one of the most overlooked areas when it comes to survival.

Handguns by their very nature and construction are primarily short range defensive weapons. Having said that anyone with a rifle would have a couple very distinct advantages in a gunfight against a person armed only with a pistol. Range and power being the two biggest but you can't forget accuracy either. Those three things make a rifle the preferred weapon for a survivalist when they can be used and transported without bringing the world down on your head. Police in America carry a pistol as a primary weapon, law enforcement around the world most times don't follow that trend. When-ever and where-ever there is a good chance police will be involved in a known dangerous situation out come the long guns, in many parts of the world police carry rifles as part of their normal duty gear.

The survivalist needs to keep in mind that handguns while are certainly needed, they should not be relied upon as your sole survival weapon. Rifles offer the ability to better find and take game, offer a standoff ability for intruders and in many cases a firepower advantage that a pistol can't overcome. When you look at setting up a survival arsenal keep in mind that it needs to be balanced around short, intermediate and longer range threats. Any type of defensive plan should be set out in layers, starting as far away as possible, the farther the better. If your threats are within pistol range you are in real peril.

Don't forget that rifles are harder to hide and may be harder to purchase depending on where you live. Pistols are nice but always remember that the rifle is still the queen of battle otherwise soldiers would all be walking around carrying M-9's and nothing else. Don't even say that soldiers are fighting a war, because that's what a survival situation could turn out to be, a war for your survival.

So do you think you are ready for whatever may come? Do you have your emergency supplies or maybe you have your "72 Hour Kit" as the government recommends? There are some truths involved when it comes to being prepared, one of those truths is that following the FEMA guidelines will either get you dead or in a FEMA camp in pretty short order. So having said that, how do you really get prepared to survive come what may? Do you have your gold and guns ready to go?

It's not really all that hard when you sit down and think about it without being under pressure such as trying to get ready in an emergency and having twenty-four hours or less to do it in. To start with a real "emergency" will most likely last longer than three days, so much for the famous "72 Hour Kit". The concept behind the federal government and its three day kit idea is that they understand it will take at least that long to get help to people when they need it, in a true disaster it will be much longer, think Katrina. Another thing to consider is that you need to look at long term survival, three days ain't long term unless your a May Fly.

The basic level to look at is at least 90 days or three months of supplies being on hand. Honestly 6 months is better and a year is better than that. Lets also be honest, few people are willing to spend the money and time (if they have it) to do it all at once so it becomes a work in progress for most people. If you go to a gun show, flea market or many times just a sporting goods store you see all kinds of freeze dried foods, MRE's and other survival related products selling like they were going away for good. Consider this, even in this economy gun sales are actually higher than they were last year. Have you looked at the price of gold? Toss in statistics that show people are saving at much higher levels than in the past couple decades and you could come to the conclusion that there are a whole lot of people out there getting ready for something bad, worse than it already is.

So I go back to my first question, do you think you are ready? If you answered that question with a maybe or a "no", now might be a good time to get started.

Obama goes to the G-20 meeting to save Europe - What about saving America?

So now we know Obama is in France today with the G-20 countries trying to decide how to save Europe, but what we do not know is how he plans on saving America from the European socialism which he embraces with a passion. I think an honest question could be: Does he plan on saving America?

The Federal Reserve came out yesterday with a rather gloomy economic forecast for next year and beyond, by the way, which reversed the trend that they had been trying to set of telling people everything is fine, kind of "who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes". Obama has socialist traits and one of them appears to be that if he repeats a lie long enough it won't be a lie if he can get enough people believe it. I think he adopted that from another despotic leader in history. High unemployment and low growth, sounds like Europe doesn't it? Is this the formula he is following, European soft socialism?

Obama has shown on more than one occasion he wants to be considered a "man of the world" not just an American. One thing I think is becoming clear, unless he leaves America soon, there won't be much of a world left to be a part of.

How Bad Are Things in Pakistan and Afghanistan? I Guess it Depends On Who You Ask, The American Media Thinks Everything is Just Fine.

So what aren't we hearing from the Obama administration about Pakistan? A good bit if you look in to it, or very little of course from the state run media. Take for example that drone strikes are down to a new low under Obama, odd since he claimed this is the most effective weapon the US is deploying in the region and a favorite of his.

Think about the fact that more US troops have died in Afghanistan under Obama than they did under George Bush, yea the media doesn't mention that much. Here is an interesting little fact, the Pakistani ISI the equivalent of a CIA/FBI all rolled up in one has stopped working with the US since January, that didn't make the news either. The Pakistani government is telling the Obama administration that they do not want CIA operatives in their country without their permission, something that Washington isn't handling too well, obviously.

Then lets toss in the fact that Secretary of Defense Gates is getting ready to depart his post only to be replaced by the hapless Leon Panetta from the CIA. Lets not forget that Pakistan has nuclear weapons and the populations in both Afghanistan and Pakistan are developing more negative views about America despite Obama's butt kissing to the Islamic world. So how bad are things in Pakistan and Afghanistan? I guess it depends on who you ask, the American media seems to think everything is just fine.

Dick Morris: Stop Foreign Aid and Save $50 Billion a Year

Dick Morris has a good point that he makes in this video. Even after the cuts made on Friday of $38.5 billion we as a nation need to understand we didn't make much of a dent to the national debt. Morris points to the fact that since we are spending over $50 billion a year in foreign aid and we are borrowing 40 percent of that money to do it, we should pay our own bills before we give money away we don't have.

In 2000 the United States spent $20 billion in foreign aid, in 2010 the United States spent $50 billion. Hello, we don't have any money. The sad part is that the US borrowed $20 billion of the that $50 billion, which was the same amount we gave away in total just ten years ago. If we as a nation are going to make a serious attempt to get our financial situation under control then liberals need to start accepting that cuts will need to be made in all parts of the government and its spending, including foreign aid.

Why the AR-15 May Be a Better Survival Rifle than the AK-47

So here we go, everyone has their own favorite weapons and they all have their personal opinions. So why am I saying the AR-15 makes a better survival weapon than an AK-47/74? I have a couple very good reasons a lot of people never consider until its too late.

Right up front I will concede I like the caliber of the AK-47 better than the AR-15, the AK-74 I have little use for. Now having said that I will also tell you the AK-47 is most likely a more robust durable weapon. It will take less care and maintenance and is simpler to use. Ok, so whats the point in saying the AR-15 is a better choice? Its really pretty simple when you step back and look at it in the big picture. Think of it this way and follow along. In the military most special operations troops are trained to use enemy weapons. The obvious reason is they may not be able to resupply their own weapons or they may end up having to use a captured enemy weapon. Many times when teams are deployed they carry the weapon found in their enemies military, most times its the AK-47/74. They use the weapons because re-supply is critical, without ammunition and magazines it does not matter what weapon you have, even your ray gun won’t work without batteries.

This is why I made the choice I did. Its a very sound principle. If you are looking at using your rifle in a survival mode that includes maybe not having access to re-supply of either ammo or mags, now what? Yes the AK-47 is a great weapon but if society melts down you won’t be able to get supplies to keep it running. I already know what your saying, I have 300 mags and 20,000 rounds in tins in my bunker, right? Fine, until you may end up getting forced out of your shelter or your supplies end up getting looted or worse yet, confiscated by the government. If you have to move, how much ammo can you carry? Its not as much as you think. Ammo for your AK will be much harder to find than for an AR-15. Like it or not, that is a fact. Where will you get mags when you need them? Most likely not at your local sporting goods store, if they are allowed to sell them at all.

Try this out. What is the most popular rifle in the United States with any and all law enforcement agencies? You know the answer, the AR-15. If the National Guard was deployed what weapons are they carrying, that would be the M-16. One thing you must always keep in mind, you may need to trade for things like ammo, mags or other supplies and soldiers are always in the market for something. Also and don’t overlook this fact. Depending on how long the situation you are facing lasts, at some point it may be reasonable to “borrow” supplies from government agencies. You won’t find 7.63×39 ammo or AK-47 mags there. You will find large stockpiles of M-16 magazines and 5.56/223 ammunition. If for some reason you found yourself in a country where the AK dominates, then the reverse would be true.

The AR-15 will take care of you if you take care of it. Yes it needs cleaned more than an AK type weapon, but if you are preparing for TEOTWAWKI then knowing how to take care of and use and maintain your weapons should high on your list of priorities anyway. The AR-15 is more accurate and is generally accepted more than the “bad guy” or “terrorist” looking AK-47. The difference in you getting shot or not could very well depend on what weapon you are carrying. The AK-47 says “terrorist” in America, the AR-15 is the good guy rifle. Hey, its just true, like it or not. These are some of the reasons I am saying the AR-15 is a better choice for a survival rifle than the AK-47. I like the AK-47, I think its a great weapon, but in the end the AR-15 wins out.

Ammunition for Your AR-15, which is Best and Why?

I wanted to cover something a lot of people ask me about. Ammunition for an AR-15, which is best for what and why? That’s really a pretty big question so I want to answer a little of it here for you. With the big rush on ammo in the past year or so many things have gotten lost in the stampede and people are paying way too much sometimes for what they are getting. Yes you can run 223 Remington ammo through your Ar-15, and in many cases it it cheaper. 5.56mm is loaded to slightly greater pressures than the sporting 223 rounds. The bullets themselves is where things really change in the ammunition you buy. You have spent $1000.00 plus on your Colt, Rock River or Bushmaster and you want to get the most out of your rifle and to do that you will need to understand a little about the ammo out there for them.

A couple things right off the top. First, the famous green tipped 5.56mm ammo. The NATO designation is SS109, a good example of this is the Radway Green British ammunition. It is simply military surplus. Now we have the term M855, so what is that? M855 is the United States military version of the same round. Yes it has a green tipped projectile as well. Federal and Winchester have been selling a good bit of this ammo lately. Everyone wants to know if it is armor piercing, the answer is yes and no. The round contains a small steel pin inside the bullet itself. The term is mild steel penetrator, this is what helps the round penetrate a Kevlar helmet which is what the round was designed for. It is also true that this round is not extremely accurate, the rounds 62 grains weight is not the problem, far from it. It is the style of the bullet and its makeup that hurts is accuracy. Do not misunderstand me, it is more than accurate enough to get the job done out to 300 yards or so. This ammo seems to be the hot item for AR-15 owners. It also brings a premium price well above other 5.56/223 ammo. In most cases it will cost you between 15% and 25% more than 55 grain military ball ammo.

The next item is the XM193 round. This is the full metal jacket 55 grain bullet in 5.56mm form. Many people report that this ammo is much more available and they have better accuracy results from it. Again, neither is hard to believe. Federal is what you see the most of right now. It is great ammo and will run your weapon fine. Other than being 5.56 and not 223, there is nothing particularly special about the load. Many believe with some reason that the XM193 is a better round for urban use and it limits over penetration. M856 is the 62 grain version of the military tracer rounds. No it does not have any armor piercing abilities normal ammo doe’s not have. They are neat to shoot but can be a problem as most ranges won’t let you fire them. The XM193 is good ammo, it will cost about 25% to 30% more than “white box” 223 ammo. One other thing here, when you hear or see the description Lake City, that is in reference to where the ammunition is being made, not anything different about the ammo other than that. Lake City is the government ammunition source.

Now what about the rest? There are tons of things you can shoot out of an AR-15. Varmint rounds which may or may not run your weapon well because of the light bullet weights. Check them by running several magazines through your weapon before you depend on them. Most AR-15′s now come in 1/9 and 1/8 twist rates which serve well in the weight range of 50 to 75 grains. Outside those limits you had better see what it does to your zero and reliability. A 50 grain hollow point would or could make a good round for home defense should you choose an AR style weapon for that purpose, it won’t do anything other than cause a disaster if you can only fire three rounds before it stops working.

For accuracy match ammo is available in weights up around 75 grains. 62, 69 and 75 are common weights in match ammunition, these rounds generally are sold in 20 round boxes and go for approximately $20.00 to $25.00 a box, a little more or a little less. Other premium ammunition includes Federal’s TRU rounds, tactical rifle urban, which is a 64 grain soft point. Winchester has its now famous Silvertip and Hornaday offers a couple choices in its TAP rounds. All of these are good choices but not something you want to spend a Saturday shooting. I hope this brief explanation helps with what you are looking for, it is far from complete but should help to save you money when buying ammunition, thinking your buying one thing and ending up with another or paying a premium price for not so premium ammo.

Is the Walther PPK the sexiest pistol ever? Oh yea. Come on, the James Bond, 007 pistol, the style the flare copied by many but equaled by none, the Walther PPK endures even today almost 80 years after making its first appearance. Today’s version is a collaboration between Smith & Wesson and Walther. The original police pistol criminal, or the PPK is surrounded by its siblings the original PP and the later PPK/S. Both are nice pistols they just don’t have the same feel as the PPK. Its biggest weakness is also its biggest strength, the 380acp gives it the compactness and lines everyone loves and at the same time limits its stopping power.

The James Bond PPK was chambered in 32acp or 7.65mm, not even a 380acp. But according to her majesties secret services it has a”delivery like a brick through a plate glass window”, OK so they over stated things a bit. The original PPK was banned from coming into the United States back in 1968 because it failed to have enough points to get past the “Saturday night special” label. A PPK, a Saturday night special, I think not. That’s were the PPK/S came in, the grip was extended and it now held an extra round and guess what, it passed. And before you ask, yes the PPK/S is the PP frame with the PPK slide and barrel. It didn’t really matter by then Walther had a deal going with Interarms and was either making them here or bringing them in. The stainless versions came out and became an instant hit even though they were American made Walther’s. The PPK has been copied by several Eastern European former Warsaw Pact countries, the Astra Constable from Spain and even the Russian Makarov owes its life to the original Walther design.

Today with Interarms gone its all about Smith & Wesson here in the US. So is the Walther as good today as it was 50 years ago? Sure. The 380acp round is not a truck stopper by any means, but it is a step up from the original 32acp round. The 380acp is called the “9mm kurz” or short, just look at your PPK slide to see the designation. This pistol was never meant to be a front line combat weapon, despite Bond, James Bond. It was a concealed carry pistol without equal. It is simple to maintain and dis assembly is a snap, just by sliding the trigger guard down and pulling the slide back and up and you have completed all the hard work getting it apart. One thing to keep in mind, if you are lucky enough to have an older PPK, make sure you run plenty of your carry ammo through it before hitting the street with it, the PPK was not very friendly towards aggressive hollow points. The newer PPK or PPK/S from Smith & Wesson in stainless steel is still a handsome pistol and they have added a little coverage to the frame in the rear to help you avoid the famous Walther bite.

If you are looking for a personal carry gun with a great history, check out the PPK. It has not plastic except the grips, it doesn’t come in pink or blue or green or really anything other than steel. Its a throw back to a different time, but like 007 it has made the transition to the 21st century with no problem. Besides if a pistol can be sexy, the Walther is it.

The 12 Gauge Pump Shotgun, The Best Pure Home Defense Weapon You Can Buy - Even Werewolves Fear That Sound

When you start talking about home defense shotguns many people start thinking things and getting images in their heads about the old double barreled coach guns with both barrels going off at the same time, the truth could not be farther away. The real honest answer is that yes, a 12 gauge shotgun is probably the best pure home defense weapon you can buy, but there are a few criteria that can really make the difference on how effective the shotgun will be.

First off it is a 12 gauge “pump” shotgun that is the most effective weapon for home defense, not a single shot break open hiding in someones garage somewhere. The pump offers all the advantages a person needing to defend themselves at home wants while having very few drawbacks. Consider that the 12 gauge pump guns have been and still are a staple of law enforcement throughout the country and its been that way for a century or better. So ask yourself why? Stopping power and reliability are the top two reasons, if you think about it isn’t that what people want in a home defense weapon? A 12 gauge loaded with 00 buckshot or #4 buckshot will stop almost anything you could possibly hope to encounter in your home, Werewolves included. At ranges around 15 to 25 feet a 12 gauge round with buckshot is devastating and without body armor not many people even survive let alone continue any aggressive actions. As for the Werewolves if you believe the stories he won’t be dead but I can pretty much assure you it will be pretty hard for him to find you without a head. The reliability part comes into play with the pump action itself, it is all you and if you have a quality firearm made by a good manufacturer like Remington, Mossberg, Winchester and so on, and you keep them in good operating condition they almost never fail to get the job done.

Pump’s offer the ability to alternate loads when needed, lets assume you live in a rural area that is having visitations by say bears. A 12 gauge loaded with a slug is a pretty effective bear gun especially under 50 yards and over 50 yards your are probably not shooting at it anyway. In your home a lighter buckshot round like # 4 buckshot will help to reduce over-penetration which is something we all need to be concerned about and is still extremely effective at protecting you and your loved ones. Features like a good set of sights, not that little bead on the end should be considered a must for a defensive or combat shotgun. Shotguns are much more accurate than many give them credit for and they can a deliver round accurately at extended ranges assuming you can sight them, not just point. Another area of concern is recoil in the 12 gauge guns. If you are truly sensitive to this consider a 20 gauge if you feel it is needed, many women prefer them as the recoil is greatly reduced. Going below a 20 gauge really cuts into the ability of the weapon and round to do its job well. Recoil absorbing stocks could be something worth looking into although they can be a bit expensive. Having a solid light mounted to the weapon is also a very worthy accessory to consider, a shotgun takes two hands to operate and holding a flashlight is a little tricky, consider also that light provides a curtain for you to hide behind in some cases and in every case it is needed to see what you are shooting at, a must.

One last thing on this topic, stay away from double barrels and single shots and don’t go to a bolt action unless you have no other choice. The doubles and singles limit your ability to keep your weapon in the fight after you fire it once or twice since you are out of ammunition and bolt action guns tend to be old and much less reliable than pumps. Semiautomatic weapons are great if used by people who are very familiar with how they operate taking into consideration on the ammunition and functioning issues they are best left for people who train with them on a regular basis. Look to shorter barrel lengths of under 20 inches if possible simply to be able to move better in close quarters. The pump 12 gauge also has one feature you can’t buy anywhere else no matter what you pay, the sound of the slide being racked into battery is like nothing else in the world in the dark, even a Werewolf knows something bad is about to happen when they hear that sound. That is intimidation at it finest.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind When Buying Surplus Military Rifles - They Can Be a Great Deal or a Complete Waste of Money for the Survivalist

I wanted to take a minute to cover something many people are involved in, buying military surplus rifles and using them as a survival firearm. Please understand there is nothing wrong with this but people need to take a few precautions before jumping in the surplus market and spending their money and time and possibly risking injury.

Surplus military rifles are from all around the world. The ever popular British 303′s, the abundant Russian 7.62x54r rifles and even German Mauser’s in a variety of calibers. There is nothing wrong with any of them assuming you know what you are buying and understand what should be done before you toss the rifle into service. Regardless of what country they come from take the time to have the weapon completely checked over by a gunsmith you trust to ensure first and foremost the weapon is safe to use. Please understand that when you are buying a weapon that may be over 50 or 75 years old things develop issue regardless of how well they were made in the beginning. Most of the rifles have been used at a minimum in training some in a reserve capacity and some made it to combat. Rifles like the multitude of Mauser style weapons come in so many different calibers you need to ensure you are using the right ammunition just for your rifle. 7mm, 8mm and 9mm all come in a Mauser rifle, not to mention some that have been re-barreled in 308, some in 30-06 and who knows what.

This brings me to the next point when buying a surplus rifle, can you get a steady diet of ammunition for it? Don’t laugh, if you follow how these things tend to develop weapons show up at about the same time the ammo does, trust me its not just by chance. The Makarov and Tokarev pistols are a good example, ammo was everywhere and then it was gone. Yes some is still around but not in the quantities it was a few years ago. The infamous 7.62x54r comes in by the boat load and then it dries up and then it shows up again. My point is make sure you can get ammo to keep your rifle running, many of these calibers are now made by American ammunition companies so take a look around before you buy. Keep an eye out for spare parts availability as well, things do and will break for everybody, you included.

Also keep in mind when you buy a surplus rifle that is sold as “unissued” there is no such thing. Get the rifle checked. This is not the same as buying a semi automatic version of the AK-47 and so on. While these rifles may be using a barrel from God only knows when, they are new assemblies that have been converted to meet import criteria. When people were buying unissued SKS’s that was not the case and several problems developed from it and people got hurt. The SKS was a semi auto rifle from the start, they simply emptied out the depots and shipped them. The bolt action rifles are no different in many cases. Surplus weapons can be fun, they can provide durable inexpensive weapons for survivalists or other shooters who just like that type of weapon. The down side is they can be a complete waste of money as well. If you think this out you can have a survival arsenal ready to go for less than the cost of one AR-15 many times and that is the reason they are so popular to begin with.

The Kel Tec Sub 2000, The Folding Carbine that Takes Your Pistols Magazines

Different is one word you can use to describe the Kel Tec Sub 2000. I had a chance to shoot one set up to take Glock 9mm magazines and found it to be a little odd, but still kind of appealing in a weird sort of way.

The Kel Tec is a neat idea to be sure, its a folding pistol caliber carbine that offers users the ability to change out the grip configuration to accept different pistol makers magazines. I know of a person who has one set up to accept a Beretta 92F mags and he seems to like the thing just fine. Its a unique blend of rifle/pistol that comes at a pretty attractive price point. With a suggested retail of just over $400.00 they can be found for closer to $300.00 and if set up to take your pistols magazines they could provide a nice addition for say a bug out bag or compact kits for people on the move.

The rifles come in either 9mm or 40S&W, either works fine for what its designed to do. Both have 16″ barrel’s, both weigh about 4lbs and open both come in at just under 30″. Were this weapon really comes into play is the fact that you can fold it up and off you go. Closed the carbine is just over 16″ long, pretty small. The one I shot uses Glock mags and for me it ran Ok, it did not want to feed a couple Remington Golden Saber’s but other than that it ran fine. The big advantage to this weapon is accuracy compared to a pistol. The mag fits into the grip kind of like the UZI, it has rather crude sights but they still make this rifle able to shoot under 1″ groups at 50 yards. That’s a little hard with a pistol. No its not as stable as the 9mm AR’s out there but then again its not even half the price. The AR’s don’t fold in half either. Having this little rifle gives a shooter the ability to reach out a little farther than he or she could with just a pistol and the idea of pistol caliber carbines go way back to the wild west. Think back 20 years to the Marlin Camp Carbines in 9mm and 45acp. The 9mm version used Smith & Wesson high capacity magazines and the 45acp version used the infamous government models magazine. Kel Tec took this one step further making the carbine able to use various pistol makers mags with the change of a grip.

If you had the Kel Tec and say a Glock 17 along with six or eight mags, maybe a 33 rounder or two, toss them in a small compact carrying case and you have a nice little package to travel with. It could make a nice little survival kit set up. Granted the 40S&W packs a little more punch but the 9mm will do fine for what this weapon is designed for. It may be a little odd looking but it gets the job done. I would really try out several different kinds of ammo before counting on it for serious use. I’m sure ball ammo won’t be a problem but different brands of hollow points could pose an issue. For a trunk gun, pack gun, survival rifle and so on, the price is hard to beat. If you need a weapon for on the move and you want it to be able to use your pistol’s magazines for the money, once again I think this thing is a best buy.

I don’t know if I would trade a AR-15 for one, but if I needed one to fit in its proper place, I’d buy one. If its the kind of weapon you could have a use for they seem to be fine, just don’t try to turn them into something their not and you should be pretty happy with this odd little carbine.

Glock Pistol Magazines - Answers on Size, Caliber, Capacity and the Interchangeability of Each

I wanted to take a minute to clear up a few questions about Glock pistol magazines. Right off the top the new fourth generation pistols do have mags that are notched on both sides. That is because the pistol comes with a reversible magazines catch or release. The new magazines will work in the old pistols and the old magazines will in the fourth generation guns so long as you do not switch sides on the mag release on the pistol itself.

Glock is like many other manufacturers in that the full size guns have magazines that fit the compact or sub compact pistols as well. In Glock if you have a 9mm, the duty sized pistol or full sized is the Glock 17, it holds 17 rounds of 9mm. The compact is the 19, it holds 15 rounds of 9mm and the Glock 17 magazines will work fine in them, they will stick out a inch or so from the grip due to the extra length. The sub compact in 9mm is the model 26, it has a standard magazine capacity of 10 rounds but will use either the 17′s or 19′s magazines. The 33 round extended mags for sale are from the Glock 18, which is almost nonexistent in the US. It is a fully automatic capable pistol, since it is 9mm the 33 round mags will fit the other three 9mm’s as well, even the little 26.

In 40S&W it is much the same, the full sized pistol is the 22, the compact is the 23 and the sub compact is the model 27. As with the 9mm’s the Glock 22′s 15 round magazine will work in the model 27 which has normally a nine round magazine. The model 23 has a 13 round magazine. There is a 31 round stick magazine available for the 40′s just like the 33 rounder in 9mm. Also, the 357Sig pistols use the same magazines as the 40′s. If you go to a gun show and can’t find Glock 23 mags but run into Glock 32 mags, buy them. The 357Sig mags work fine in 40′s and the 40′s work fine in 357Sig. This is a great caliber swap by the way, simply buy a barrel and you can now change the caliber of your pistol.

In 45acp its a little different. With the additional of the “sf” models last year the magazines got an upgrade in a way. The old Glock 21 magazines will not work in the new Glock 21sf, however the 21sf mags will work in the old model 21. Its the same with the model 30. The new “sf” magazines are 10 rounders just like the old ones but the old ones will not work in the new 30sf. Many people are trying to find out what magazines fit in the carbines that are available that take Glock pistol mags. In either the 9mm or 40S&W you can use the extended stick mags and give yourself a good sized bump in firepower.

A Neat Idea for Glock Fans - The Olympic Arms K40-GL, The 40 S&W AR-15 with Glock Mags

Just like the 9mm version, the Olympic Arms K40-GL, is a purpose built AR-15. This one, again like the 9mm takes a Glock pistol magazine, the Glock 22, the most popular police duty firearm in the country. The obvious advantage here is the ability to switch to a carbine when you need a more accurate shot.

This rifle comes again with a standard A-2 sight set up and looks like a heavy barrelled AR-15. The weapon has a 16″ stainless steel barrel with an A-2 flash suppressor attached to the end, right in front of that nasty bayonet lug. It has a telescopic stock and when collapsed comes in at just over 31.5 ” , it weighs what a normal AR-15 would come in at, around 7lbs. The reason why I’m kind of skimming over this is that these are pretty much standard numbers for an AR style carbine. What makes this rifle different is of course the caliber, which is 40 S&W and what makes it neatest of all is that it uses Glock pistol mags, including the 29 round sticks.

If you take this weapon out to the range you will find it is boring to the hilt, it just shoots and shoots and shoots some more. It runs on a simple blow back operation method so no gas tubes or plumbing is needed. The best set up for this rifle is to mount either a set of quad rail hand guards on the rifle or get a mount which places a sight, such as an EOTech in front of the carry handle and allows you to use both the sight and your iron sights at the same time. Mount any type of good weapons light to it and you have one mean close in carbine. If you are using the weapon on patrol or your just like Glock pistols this rifle could really fill a special role for you. At home it would make a great defense weapon with 165grain rounds, on patrol, it will fire whatever ammo your department requires you carry in your Glock. At the range as I said the weapon is boring, that’s good. I fired 180, 165 and even 155 grain rounds without a hitch. The 155 Federal Law Enforcement rounds have almost no recoil at all, they even spit just a little fire now and then. Remember the longer barrel will increase the velocity of the rounds you are using.

As far as being accurate, again at 50 yards head shots are no problem with this rifle. At 25 yards its just a matter of keeping it on target as fast as you can pull the trigger, the weapon has almost no felt recoil to speak of. Go back out to 50 yards and sitting at a bench the rifle will hold a 5 round group the size of a golf ball pretty much with whatever ammo you use. Remember, that means that all the bullet holes are touching each other, not bad for a pistol caliber carbine. Where does this rifle fit in when its all said and done, that’s kind of up to you. It can not replace a standard AR-15 or any other rifle caliber semi for that matter. But, and this is the key, if you need a short range, hard hitting accurate carbine and if you are a Glock fan or have to use one at work, this rifle has a lot to offer you. All in all, its a good weapon for what it was meant for, and like any other tool that’s all you can ask for from it.

Best Buy AR-15's, What You Get and What You Don't

So what is a “best buy” in the AR-15 world? The black rifle market as taken some twists in the past few years and has really become a market all its own. With almost 2 million now sold there is little doubt that they are here to stay. So if you want to buy one without selling off body parts, what are some of the best buys out there? Lets look at a few and see. Remember a few things first, these companies make rifles that come in all price ranges so just because some are less expensive that does not mean all of the weapons a company makes are “best buys”. Also, I did not go into the custom gun makers like Wilson Combat, while they make fanastic weapons and you could argue they are very well worth the money, they are not the way to go when you could buy 2 or 3 of brand X compared to 1 of brand Y.

First, Stag Arms. They became famous for their left handed rifles, and have really expanded in the past two years. They make a good sized variety of rifles in various forms. Smith & Wesson was buying their lower receivers from them for some time. The quality of these rifles seems fine. I have shot a couple and handled many and have found them very suitable. The ones I have fired all ran well and accuracy was on par with the pack.

Second, Olympic Arms. These guy’s have been at it for decades. They offer so many different forms of the rifle in several different calibers it would take 2 or 3 days to list them all. The basic base rifle they call the Plinker still uses A-1 sights, but hey it shoots. Olympic arms seems to have a knack for getting black rifles black. What I mean by that is that they are not gray, they are black. Again the same thing as above, I have been shooting their rifles for over 15 years and they run as good as anything out there. Remember Olympic Arms is the king of “versions”, they make the Glock lower 9mm and 40 s&w Ar’s which are very popular, they also make the pistol versions like the OA-93.

Third, DPMS. Also called Panther Arms they make several versions including several in different calibers. DPMS has been around a while as well, they make a good rifle and they sell a bunch. They offer people a few very different weapons, including plastic/polymer lower receivers. Its almost boring but they have the whole AR-15 thing down just like the others. The ones I have used all worked without a hitch.

Fourth, everyone else. There is CMMG, Charles Daily, you could toss in Bushmaster but they are not in the same crowd really. Bushmaster is no longer a bargain basement buy. They do make good firearms but they aren’t as cheap as they were at one time. For the money they can be very hard to beat. When you move up to Rock River, Smith & Wesson and then to Colt, so goes the money. Rock River is truly a well made weapon, Colt, well its Colt. They make a very good rifle and still are what most normal production weapons are compared to. Colt has the AR-15 down to a science and has for some time.

Looking at cost is kind of hard because things vary from area to area. Weapons in the $800.00 range include Olympic Arms, DPMS, CMMG, Stag Arms and so on. When you bump up to about $1000.00 you have Bushmaster and Smith & Wesson. A little over that and you have Rock River and then you move on to Colt. Don’t misunderstand what I’m saying here, you are not getting the best or most expensive DPMS for $800.00, but you will get a good serviceable rifle. The more expensive the weapon the better the trigger, these rifles are the same. Rock River uses Wilson barrels and a great two stage trigger, this combination makes for very accurate rifles. Most of these types of rifle will shoot about 2″ groups at 100 yards. Not like threading a needle, but more than enough to get the intended job done. Some of the rifles offer nice little features like Hogue pistol grips. Also, if you have to have a flat top receiver or a specific barrel option you may end up out of the best buy club.

Think about your purchase carefully, one thing you need to know is that the AR-15 is here to stay. Different calibers, maybe. The rifle, for sure. Even Remington who owns Bushmaster now is selling hunting versions of the AR. Its here to stay. One last thing, join the club its not such a bad place to be.

Five Guns Not to Buy as Survival Firearms

Five guns not to buy as a survival firearm. Its a different look at the same old question. Most people want to know whats the best gun to buy, instead maybe they should be worrying about what gun not to buy. There are a lot of good weapons out there and people have personal preferences and different needs. As such what may be a great weapon for me may not be a good weapon for you. One thing that is a constant though is that some weapons really have no place in a survival arsenal for all kinds of different reasons. Try these out:

Weapon Number One: Derringers. Sure they are neat and fit almost anywhere but they have almost no practical use as a survival firearm. No matter what the caliber they are very short range and have only one or two rounds available without reloading. Many people buy them as a back up weapons or a “glove box” gun and that’s fine if that is really what you want one for. Some of these little pistols are as little as a hundred dollars and some are closer to five hundred dollars. Again, imagine this as your only weapon in a survival situation, the only hope you could fall back on is this weapon being a way to obtain a better one.

Weapon Number Two: Minor Caliber Pocket Pistols. While I admit to owning them and one of my favorite guns is my Beretta Tomcat, I can’t recommend them as a survival weapon. These little pistols work great when you need to run out to the ATM at midnight or you can’t hide anything else because of your clothing, the old line about any gun being better than none applies here. What I mean by minor caliber is the 380acp, 32acp, 25acp and 22 rim fire weapons. These are generally seen as less than desirable for self defense and are most times used as I said above when nothing else will fit or as a backup weapon to a primary service/duty weapon. You can apply the “get a better weapon strategy” I suppose but I would just as soon start out with one instead of trying to get one from someone else in a violent confrontation. These are short range self defense weapons at best, nothing else.

Weapon Number Three: Short Barreled Revolvers. Regardless of caliber they are most often employed as a self defense weapon for close range. Most times people think of the 38special as the standard 2 inch snub nosed revolver of choice. While this is true to some extent there are many other calibers up to 44 magnum. The real problem here is that most people can’t can’t shoot them well at all. With any meaningful rounds in them they are brutal to shoot and hard to control without a ton of live fire practice. Going to a 4 inch barrel makes all the difference in the world many times. The light weight revolvers are great to carry and can serve well in a personal protection role, they are dependable and with good rounds they can get the job done if needed. For personal protection or a backup weapon they are great, for a survival firearm they fall short, no pun intended.

Weapon Number Four: Any Odd Caliber Weapon. One thing is for certain when talking about any gun, without a good supply of ammunition for it your sunk. Having an exotic caliber or your favorite old time load is great fun but that’s where it should end, fun. In a survival situation you need to be able to get your ammunition from as many sources as possible. Walking into K-Mart buying 9mm isn’t so bad, try finding 9×18 Makarov or 357 Sig. I happen to be very fond of 357 Sig and I carry it all the time. It is powerful and accurate and is a dependable stopper in a 9mm sized handgun. For daily carry its great, if things melt down its not so great. People have all kinds of excuses they reload or they have 2000 rounds for their pistol, I have heard them all and none hold water and here’s why. What happens if you get separated from your retreat or your ammunition source, your screwed is what happens. Your greatest ever weapon becomes a paperweight without bullets. You can’t go mobile with 150lbs of ammunition strapped to your back. Many of these weapons fall into the great defense guns and historically significant firearms category. Many are great target or hunting weapons. Many are family treasures and valued because of their sentimental value. No one is advocating getting rid of them or not using them, I am saying that under normal circumstances they work fine but under TEOTWAWKI style conditions you need to be able to feed them with as little trouble and attention and expense as possible.

Weapon Number Five: Any weapon you value too much to loose or damage. While this may seem obvious its not. I collect guns but all of my guns are shooters. I have seen people who count their 20 year old Colt Python as a survival weapon because it shoots well and they really like it. They like it so much it never leaves their gun safe except on rare occasions. Saying they are going to fall back on their prized pistol just isn’t going to happen in the real world. Don’t think that wall hanger handed down to you is a survival weapon because it most likely is not. If you value the weapon that much, just jumping onto the ground and sliding through the dirt is probably something you don’t want to do to your father’s M-1 carbine he brought back from Korea. Honestly I don’t blame you I wouldn’t want to damage or loose something like that either. That’s not the issue here. Even if the weapon in its day would have been a great survival weapon, its day may have gone by. Gun collections are not always full of survival weapons. If you are a gun collector don’t plan on keeping your collection as your backup in an emergency.

I hope this explains what I meant, a weapon you would or could use for a survival situation is not always what you have on hand or that you are using for other purposes. The best survival weapon is one that gets the job done for you and meets your needs. A good survival weapon for a person living in a large city as compared to someone from a small town is different yet from a person who lives on a farm or in a small mountain community. Experts talk about the perfect gun, the honest truth is there isn’t one. If you look at the list above and try to avoid falling into the traps they set for you, with any luck you’ll be just fine. Plastic or steel, it doesn’t matter if it works well for you.

With the huge increase in interest in small concealable handguns firearms makers have responded with a variety of new pistols and one of those pistols that is making a big slash in the Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380. When it first came out last year dealers couldn’t get them fast enough and Smith & Wesson sensing a good thing lowered the dealer pricing in a attempt to get an even big market share and judging by the sales it may be working. Smith & Wesson also brought out the Bodyguard 38 in a “J” frame sized revolver. Both of these handguns have a laser installed at the factory which is no doubt helping them in the sales department. The 380 versions seems to outsell it’s revolver brother by about two or three to one and its that pistol which I’m going to address here. If you are looking at a small caliber pistol, don’t let the name “Bodyguard” fool you into buying it.

My issue with the pistol is more in the marketing area than in the weapon itself. It is being marketed and sold as a “bodyguard” hence a personal pistol for self protection and defense. While it is true that the pistol is lightweight it does weigh more than say the Ruger LCP (9.4 Ounces) which is another later comer to the pocket pistol race and was all the rage when it first hit the marker over a year ago. It is also relatively small but again its bigger than say the Kel-Tec 380′s. The pistol itself does carry the Smith & Wesson name which is also helping it sell but if anyone is honest the real reason it is so popular is because it has a built in laser. With the new price decrease the pistols have an attractive price point when you compare it to any other similar pistol with a laser added on. The earlier pistols had a few feeding problems and as close as I could ascertain it was due to the magazine not seating properly that was causing the issues. All in all a pretty average 380acp pistol when it comes right down to it, with one exception as I said. The marketing.

My issue with the entire concept is that they built the weapon around the idea of a laser, knowing that people love gadgets and gun owners well, they love lasers. The issue is that the very reason that people buy the pistol could very well get them killed in the real world if they ever go to use it. The issue is that the laser itself is mounted forward of the trigger guard and does not have a method of being activated when simply gripping the gun. The only way to turn it on is to reach forward in a rather awkward motion with your trigger finger and push in the little gray button. The laser itself is not that easy to turn on and requires a solid push to activate. There is no way to simply draw the weapon and while gripping it activate the laser. Imagine being a situation where you needed the pistol because your life was under immediate threat, under pressure fine motor skills disappear in a flash and you are standing there facing the threat and saying “could you please hold on a second I’m trying to turn on my laser to shoot you”. I’m not so sure this is going to work out to well for you, you might end up dead. The concept of a laser is debatable but what is not is that in an emergency you will be drawing the weapon most likely at a very close distance which is what this type of weapon is for, which means you need to be able to bring the weapon into the fight very quickly. Quickly doesn’t mean fumbling around with a button trying to turn on the laser you just had to have.

The marketing issue for me is one that the company wants you to think the “Bodyguard” is better able to protect you because it has a laser built in from the factory. When the truth is the way the laser is activated, it is a handicap not a help. Guy’s buy the little guns and go to the range and stand there and tell you “I bought this for my wife so she doesn’t have to aim”. Really, so in other words you think because the laser is there she simply has to point the dot on the target and squeeze right? This is were everything falls apart, she may very well be dead by the time the laser gets turned on so she can hit the target. The deadly reality is that the laser is not activated when you pick up the pistol, it is not in a standby mode, it is turned off via a very user unfriendly switch located out at the front of the pistol, not very smart if you think about it. If Smith & Wesson wanted to really create a weapon with a laser that was designed for the shooter in a self defense situation they would have found a way to have the laser switched on and activated only when you gripped the weapon as is common when a pistol has a set of Laser Grips installed. Thinking that under stress a person would be reaching out there with their trigger finger when they are scared and time is of the essence is just plain foolish.

Lets be honest, the 380acp is marginal at best as a defense round so that alone should have disqualified it as a “Bodyguard”, but sales overwhelmed facts. Just don’t let the name fool you when you are thinking of buying one.

The FN 5.7 Conversion for the AR-15 - What Do You Get for Your Money?

Every once in a while someone brings out a product that seems to defy logic. This may be the case for the 5.7 FN conversion for the AR-15 rifle. I’m not saying it does not have a purpose or use, that’s for you to decide, but it is the kind of thing that makes people ask why was it made. I had a chance to play with one in the SBR form a little while back and found a couple odd things about it, although it ran fine.

The reason it seems odd is that many uppers are available for the AR-15 platform, they look to address a basic complaint about the AR-15, which is the power coming from the standard 5.56/223 round. All kinds of calibers are available before you cross over into the AR-10 world which gives you the 7.62/308 group of calibers. The 5.7 is a lower power round than the 5.56 cartridge. Yes it is very fast but the knock against it is that it has short legs. The original round was designed to penetrate soft body armor, this round is restricted to military and law enforcement sales. The AR-15 in standard 5.56 will penetrate all soft body armor, as will most rifle fire. This means the cartridge itself has its advantage in the size of the weapon, not its ballistic performance compared to a rifle round. The FNH PS 90 which started this cartridge is a capable weapon but is designed as a personal protection weapon, not a battle rifle. If your goal here is to convert an AR-15 to a smaller, shorter weapon then the 11″ barreled SBR version may be able to do that for you. If you put the 11″ version on your rifle you will need to get it registered as a short barreled rifle to keep it legal, just putting it on is a violation of federal law. The other version of the upper is a 16″ version. With the 16″ version you have the same sized rifle that you started with. Just keep these things in mind before spending approximately $700.00 to buy the upper receiver.

One thing this conversion will do is give you firepower like crazy. The standard PS 90 magazines fit into this conversion like they do on the PS 90, which means 50 round mags laying flat on top the receiver. It has a nice feature in that it is blow back operated and cuts out the entire gas system people want to get away from. One other rather odd thing is that it operates like a PS 90 in that’s it ejects the spent cases down through the empty magazine well, dropping them straight down to the ground. No more hot brass flying at you if your left handed. This is a nice little feature, not possible if you are using a standard magazine. The conversion shot fine and the 5.7 round is nothing if not accurate. Recoil is like the 22 long rifle, it just makes a little more noise. I had the opportunity to run it on an M-16 lower and even in full auto it ran fine. I do not know its cyclic rate of fire but close to 1000 rounds per minute I think is close as it moves faster than the standard 750 or so in 5.56. The upper receivers themselves are flat tops which enables you to mount almost any type of optic on it. With any type of holosight its going to work fine. At 25 yards it shreds the center of a standard B-27 target with ease. At 50 yards the result is much the same. Both barrel lengths come with a flash suppressor/muzzle break. Sorry but no bayonet lug for you assault weapons ban fans.

So what do you get for $700.00? If you already own a weapon firing the 5.7, then you have an opportunity to add something to your collection that not many people have and you already have ammo to shoot through it. If you want a small compact PDW, then the 11″ conversion will do that for you should you choose to keep it legal. In the 16″ verison unless you really just want something different, the standard AR-15 will out preform it no matter how you look at it. It is a limited use weapon no doubt, it may not have a purpose at all, but then again not everything needs to have a purpose. Besides, shooting most times is about having fun, if you like this caliber have fun with it.

Obama Announces He Is Running For Re-Election - What a Stunner Since He Never Stopped "Campaining"

With Obama officially announcing his re-election bid it tells us a few things about him and the Democrats, not the least of which is the level of concern in Team Obama about what may be ahead for 2012. The concept is simple, Obama has three wars now going, two of which he outright owns and the third is winding down via a time table set by George Bush. The nation is facing rising oil prices which means higher gas prices which in turn leads to increased inflation and higher overall prices on just about everything. The economy as much as Obama would like to convince you of differently is hardly moving forward at light speed, as a mater of fact if the Bureau of Labor Statistics hadn't changed the formula for counting the unemployment rate things would look even worse than they already do. So what does this all mean?

It means that Obama is watching his poll numbers sink and he has been told that if they continue to slide he may never recover. Also the voters Obama got out to vote for him in 2008 are not as intense this time around and as could be seen in the 2010 mid-term elections they either stayed home or changed sides, in either case this spells disaster for Obama in 2012 unless he can reverse their course. This move now is purely tactical in that Obama needs money and he can now legally start raising campaign funds. Campaign funds mean commercials and air time, it means trying to reverse his sinking poll numbers. Just keep one thing in mind, Obama has never really gotten out of campaign mode and has no intention of changing at this late date, now he just has an excuse for doing it.

As Morris points out the facts all support what he is saying including the Labor Departments attempt at a new formula to calculate the unemployment rate. Inflation is already starting to take hold which means a double dip recession will be very very painful, as bad or worse than the original from 2007.

The Obama administration comes out with a new set of numbers almost daily telling everyone how great the economy is doing, yet no one has a job and companies are paralyzed when it comes to hiring new workers. Tax revenues are down and government spending in exploding. The Congressional Budget Office has just come out and said that Obama's 2012 budget would increase the national debt by $1.2 trillion over the next ten years. So how serious is Obama and his Democratic allies in congress when it comes to getting the country on the right track? Obama's budget is as I said a couple weeks ago, nothing but another lie and a slight of hand. Obama goes out and says how he is cutting a reigning in spending while at the same time his budget is ballooning the national debt.

The concept of America being in a double dip recession isn't crazy, as a matter of fact there is plenty of evidence to support it.

When Was The Last Time a President Did Not Address the Nation Before Committing an Act of War Against Another Country?

Lets see here, at $1.5 million per Cruise Missile and we sent about 110 of them screaming into Libya that's a whole bunch of money isn't it? When was the last time the United States armed forces attacked anyone for any reason and the president didn't even address the nation? If this was being done under a Republican administration what would be the reaction from the state run media compared to what it has been now? Better than that, why did we wait for three weeks when the rebels are greatly weakened and their chances of success have dimmed to put the prestige if the United States on the line? These are good questions, great questions as a matter of fact and the answer for all of them is the same.

The answer resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. The state run media has been carrying Obama's water since the beginning, they have never asked hard questions or pressed him on issues. Think about what I am saying for a minute, the United States military has committed acts of war against another nation and like it or not, agree with it or not, the president who ordered it be done didn't even have the dignity to address the nation and tell the public what was going on and his reasons for it. Obama and Hillary did however get United Nations and NATO consent but bypassed the congress.

This is what happens when you get a inexperienced untested person who you try to install as the leader of the free world. Obama's true world view is why he and his administration are acting this way. As a group they much prefer to seek permission from the world rather than from the people and their elected officials which is how the constitution is written. Not even having the decency to address the nation before using the United States military against another country, again like it or not, and going on vacation at the same time shows his arrogance and the contempt he holds for the United States.

Louis Farrakhan asks Obama: Who The Hell Do You Think You Are?- It Seems Farrakhan Thinks America Is Rising Up Against Obama

Louis Farrakhan asked Obama who the hell he thinks he is, it seems Farrakhan isn't to happy about the way Obama is dealing with Qaddafi and asking him to step down and he let that be known in a radio interview in Chicago yesterday. That's interesting to be sure but what he goes on to say is even more revealing than his rant against the military actions we are taking in Libya.

Farrakhan goes on to tell Obama that the nation (this one) is rising up against him and it is being lead by people who don't want a black face in the White House. Farrakhan continues by pointing out that it has already started in Wisconsin and that "these" people are well armed and how there will be blood in the streets. It sounds to me more like Farrakhan is more concerned about the American people rising up than Obama is.

Farrakhan asking Obama "who the hell do you think you are?" is rather ironic. Millions have been asking that same question for the past two years, myself included.

What is The Best Caliber for Your Survival Rifle, Big or Small, Fast or Slow, You Choose

If you are a gun enthusiast or a survivalist one of the hottest topics that always comes up is which caliber rifle is best for a survival/TEOTWAWKI rifle. We are not just talking about the rifle but the caliber the rifle is chambered in. The top three are pretty much the 5.56mm or .223, the 7.63x39mm the infamous AK-47/SKS round and the 7.62x51 NATO or .308 Winchester. If we look at all three you find each has a strong point and each has a weak point, the choice on what to use will in the end will be up to you. All three are found in modern military style rifles so you do have real choices and options.

The 5.56mm or .223 Remington is the round found in the M-16/AR-15 rifles and that is what it is associated with. Sorting out the difference between the complaints around the performance of the round and the dislike for a lighter caliber is hard to do. Many just simply don't like the lighter caliber bullet claiming a lack of stopping power, on the other side of the coin many will say that the smaller caliber means more ammunition on your back and a faster rate of accurate fire. The caliber makes it possible for a smaller more compact weapon which in an urban setting may be a big advantage. Switch those settings and for shots over two or three hundred yards and a lot of shooters don't feel confident of the rounds ability to deliver solid performance when it comes to dropping the bad guys in their tracks. For a survival weapon this could translate to deer sized game in a hunting scenario. You need to keep this in mind.

For the infamous 7.62x39mm the issue is somewhat different. Most would agree the round delivers good stopping power and better barrier penetration than the 5.56mm, that's the good news. The not so good is that the bullets performance really falls off fast. Under the one hundred yard mark you have a deadly weapon, over two hundred yards and it is like firing a mortar round. Keep in mind this Soviet designed cartridge was always considered an intermediate round, it was designed for short range rapid fire coming from a small rifle pouring out a high rate of fire, hence the term assault rifle. With that in mind it does its job well, for a shorter range hunting weapon it is close to a 30/30 round in its ability.

Last but certainly not least is the 7.62x51 NATO, also called the .308 Winchester. This is more or less the round that many who had military experience like. The 7.62 NATO is a powerful round that can deliver a knockout shot at four or five hundred yards and go through a car door most times with ease. The biggest issue with this round is the weapons that fire it. They tend to be a bit larger and heavier simply because they need to be. You end up with being able to carry less ammunition and it weighs more. The plus is also the minus in this case. More power equals a bigger round which equals less of them. The recoil tends to slow followup shots as compared to the others and again the flip side is you can engage targets at greater distances with much more confidence. One other thing, few if any would argue with this rounds stopping power, close or far. The most well known weapons that fire it are the M-14's which are being put back in service in Iraq and Afghanistan.

That's pretty much the big three so to speak. The ideal choice comes down to the scenario in which you will be in. In an urban setting the 5.56mm is a great round but hunting medium sized game at any distance beyond a hundred yards could be challenging, the round is accurate but its lack of size scare away some people when it comes to hunting with it. Keep one very important fact in mind, people tend to be easier to stop than animals of the same size. The 7.63x39mm round is great up close but past the 100 yard mark you could find yourself in trouble hitting the target. In a rapid fire close range weapon it is a great round. For sure if you are looking at a more rural setting or one in which longer range shots could be needed the 7.62NATO is the bullet. Accurate rapid fire followup shots are much more difficult which means you need more time to engage more targets. If you keep the weak points and strong points in mind you should be able to find the answer you are looking for. Why do I say that? The armed forces of most of the world already have.

NO WAY OBAMA WINS IN 2012

The combination of high oil and gasoline prices, rising food costs, higher health insurance premiums and the likelihood of future inflation has jarred consumer confidence, creating a major crisis for the Obama administration.

The collapse has been sudden and dramatic.

In December, the consumer confidence scale in the Rasmussen Poll stood at 81.7 percent. But in January, euphoria set in. Obama compromised on the George W. Bush tax cuts, the nation seemed to be coming together after the Giffords shooting and a Republican House sat poised to stop any new spending or social experimentation. On Jan. 11, the Rasmussen confidence index rose to 88.3.

Then reality dawned. Unemployment remained persistently high, economic growth was largely stagnant and partisan bickering resumed. The confidence level on Feb. 11 dropped to 84.5.

Then the bottom fell out. The daily Rasmussen polling reflected a drop day after day until, by March 11, the index had fallen to 73.1, its lowest level since it registered a 69 in July of 2009, in the depths of the recession.

The false dawn of January has faded and the hard, cold reality of a likely second recession is setting in. But this recession is accompanied by the likelihood of inflation, a stagflation syndrome that will probably grip America for years. And which will likely take a manmade recession, on the order of 1979-82, to counter it.

Will Obama get reelected? No way! In the teeth of the economic catastrophe that is shaping up, his chances are doomed.

The tsunami in Japan, perhaps the greatest tragedy since 9/11, will further impede any prospect for economic growth. There will be a demand for spending to repair the devastation of the quake. But Japan is tied with China as the world's second largest economy, generating 12 percent of the global GDP. With Japan neither producing nor buying for the foreseeable future, the drag on the global economy will be profound.

Worse, the Fed and the administration are out of tools to help. Interest rates are already at zero. Fiscal stimulus -- the deficit -- already consumes 40 percent of our total government outlays. The Fed is printing money at a ferocious rate under its qualitative easing (QE-2) program. What is left to do?

Only dramatic cuts in the federal deficit, a rollback of regulations that cripple small and community banks, a cancellation of future tax increase plans, a big reduction in federal spending, repeal of ObamaCare, freeing manufacturing from the prospect of carbon taxation and unleashing our domestic energy potential can solve our problems. But Obama is not about to undo his legacy of disaster for the American people.

And then there is the longer-term oil and gasoline crisis. Instability in the Middle East is going to mount, not recede. The chances of disruption in Saudi oil supplies and the possibility of an overthrow of the regime (triggered by the best efforts of Iran) will continue to force prices upward. The drag on the economy and the rising consumer discontent in the United States spell further problems for the Obama presidency.

As the Rev. Jeremiah Wright said -- outrageously and wrongly -- about 9/11, "the chickens are coming home to roost." The policies of this administration -- the disastrous overspending, the irresponsible borrowing, the social experimentation -- all are magnifying and amplifying the impact of the recession. Relief is not going to come anytime soon.

Instead, the true legacy of the Obama years is likely to be stagflation and an entire decade wiped out by his policies, budget and programs. Long after he is gone in 2013, we will still be repairing the damage of his terrible decisions.

The Surgeon General of the United States said Iodide Pills Are a Worthy Precaution, Team Obama Says There Is no Danger So Which Is It?

This story once again demonstrates the incompetence of the Obama administration this time it involves the Surgeon General of the United States Regina Benjamin. We all know of the radiation leak coming from the Japanese nuclear plant, we also know that the leak is six thousand miles away from the West Coast of the United States. The Surgeon General goes public telling people that having Iodide pills on hand is a worthy precaution while at the same time the rest of the administration tells people there is no danger. So you choose, is it a danger to the United States or not?

I'm not a certified expert on nuclear issues but I don't think you need to be to understand that there is a pretty good sized run on Iodide tablets which are commonly used as a preventative measure when someone is exposed to radiation. They were handed out in some areas close to nuclear power plants right after 9/11. Having the Surgeon General of the United States go out and tell people having the pills is "a worthy precaution" was sure to cause a reaction. Now the Obama administration is rushing experts out to tell people there is no danger from the radiation leaking from the Japanese nuclear plants.

Again I go back to the same thing I said above. One part of Team Obama claims everything is fine while another part claims there might be a problem, so you tell me which is it? Is the radiation a problem for the United States or not, if you decide its not then the Surgeon General needs to be looking for another job as causing people to panic looking for Iodide pills I'm sure isn't healthy.

A No Fly Zone in Libya Is Fine But Why Not Let NATO or the European Union Do It?

The one thing most Americans seem to agree on in the case of Libya is that if people want a "no fly zone" then maybe countries other than America should take the lead and do it. As a nation we need to remember that it was a no fly zone that cost hundreds of million of dollars and was in place for a decade over Iraq that no doubt contributed to the decision to invade and remove Saddam Hussein. The issue is not creating a no fly zone, the issue is why should America be the holder of the bag when it comes to making it happen and then keeping it in place. Why should America be asked to absorb the costs?

There is NATO and the European Union that could very easily act if they choose yet they don't seem to be doing anything. The problem is that Obama stated that he wanted Moammar out which is fine but now he is doing nothing to make it happen. The big thing to consider is that if you put a no fly zone in place how long does it stay there and who decides when it is to be removed? The idea was similar in Iraq after the Gulf War, rebels were trying to overthrow Hussein which we obviously wanted, the problem developed when it didn't happen. Hence the no fly zone lasted for a decade with out planes being shot at and us spending untold million to maintain it. Now we face the same issue in Libya, we want the government out, we support the rebels and know with Libyan air power they may be crushed. The real question needs to be asked, like what if they don't win?

While many support the idea, how many want America tied down with a commitment for God only knows how long?

Letting Eric Holder Investigate ATF's Project Gun Runner Wouldn't Pass the Smell Test

Based on what many have seen it should be no surprise that US Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is making it clear he no longer has confidence that the Justice Department under Attorney General Eric Holder is able to handle the investigation into Project Gun Runner. Grassley's exact quote was that "it wouldn't pass the smell test". The sad part is that this poor excuse of a plan contributed to the death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry in Arizona in December 2010.

For those that don't know Project Gun Runner was a BATFE attempt at a criminal sting operation on the Mexican drug cartels that backfired horribly. The idea was that ATF would have gun shop owners and dealers sell weapons they knew were straw purchases to people who in turn would transport them to the drug cartels. Somehow ATF thought they would then be able to track the weapons and find the supply routes. This plan has a couple flaws, not the least of which is that it is out of the country. Over 1000 AK-47's were sold to only a hand full of people with not only the knowledge of ATF but under their guidance. Also consider that the tracking would only start once the weapons were recovered in a crime. Now assuming that you are willing to believe all this garbage think about the following.

The Obama administration is very openly anti-gun, they also are pushing for strict reporting regulations now on rifle sales. Many in the administration have made it clear that they fully support the so called "assault weapons ban" from the Clinton era including Eric Holder. Even the man appointed to run the BATFE is Andrew Traver, an anti-gun buddy of Obama's from Chicago. What doesn't pass the smell test is the entire idea that someone would do this trying to track guns going to the drug cartels. Could this have been an attempt to prove that as the administration has been falsely claiming for over a year that guns are flowing South from the US and they are arming the Mexican drug cartels in large numbers? If this was just a legitimate tracking operation why didn't ATF inform the Mexican government of the plan? Could the Obama administration have been looking to score not only intelligence information but a political victory as well?

The entire operation was ill conceived and poorly executed. The idea that Americans should now let Eric Holder investigate this is insane. We need to keep in mind that this administration is also the same group of people who came out with a report on the Fort Hood shooting and never mentioned the word "Muslim".

Why Are So Many Students Protesting in Wisconsin and Who Is Behind It?

So ask yourself this, who exactly is marching and protesting in Wisconsin? Sure you have members of labor unions ans yes you have plenty of left wing activists, but doesn't it look like a bunch of college age and younger students out there? Did you ever wonder why they are there? Aren't these the very same people that Obama got out to vote for him in many cases? Remember the "community organizer" part of his resume?

You really need to go beyond just the obvious links to the liberals and the leftist's, yes they inhabit colleges around the nation but it's more than just that. The union members and labor people have a vested interest in what happened in one of the labor friendliest states in the country, but why students? Wouldn't they benefit from the doing away with the "last in first out" policies? Sure they would. So whats their beef? Think beyond the obvious as I said, these students are looking at a future living off of the government in one form or another. Many, many of them are looking or hoping to get jobs either in education (think government) or just flat out working for government in one form or another. For them and they are being told this, the cutting of government means a much more difficult life for them in the future.

Lets say you are planning on being a teacher, you know that if you get hired in a school district and make it passed year two or three you have a job for life. Not a bad proposition is it? What about the bio chemistry majors? Ever heard if the NIH? Or what about the billions handed out in the form of government grants? Oh yea, without that money these students know their career path will be a little more difficult. Now consider big labor is spending tens of thousands paying for these protests and they also ensure that students are bombarded with propaganda telling them how great the unions are and evil that government and businesses are. This is being done by the very unionized teachers that are involved in the protests. In many cases they really believe that they need these unions to survive because they think they somehow derive "rights" from the union.

Well after a long break we are back, back here that is. After a couple years of deciding what to do we decided ( I decided) to come back to the original dot com site. So there you have it, starting in a few days we will start posting on here again as normal.

Charlie Rangel (D-NY) remains as chairman of the Ways & Means Committee even though he faces serious charges that are now the subject of an Ethics Committee investigation. Moreover, Democrats have twice voted against resolutions calling for Rangel to step down as chairman until the investigation is complete. House Republican Conference Secretary John Carter (R-TX) announced last week his intention to offer another resolution this week to remove Rangel from his chairmanship pending completion of the investigation. Before the House votes on a resolution, it might be helpful for the Majority Democrats to review the accusations facing Rangel:
Failure to report $75,000 in rental income on federal and state tax returns: The New York Times reported that Rangel “earned more than $75,000 in rental income from a villa he has owned in the Dominican Republic since 1988, but never reported it on his federal or state tax returns, according to a lawyer for the congressman and documents from the resort.” Rangel also “paid no interest for more than a decade on a mortgage” for the villa and “the loan was given to him by the resort development company, in which Theodore Kheel, a prominent New York labor lawyer, was a principal investor. Mr. Kheel, who has given tens of thousands of dollars to Mr. Rangel’s campaigns over the past decade.”
Agreed to preserve a tax break that would benefit a supporter who on the same day pledged to give $1 million to Rangel’s ‘Monument to Me’: As the New York Times reported, Rangel agreed “to preserve a tax loophole for an oil-drilling company at the same time that its chief executive pledged $1 million to a City College of New York school that will bear the congressman’s name.”
Used official congressional letterhead to solicit support for his ‘Monument to Me’: The Washington Post reported that Rangel “penned letters on congressional stationery and has sought meetings to ask for corporate and foundation contributions for the Charles B. Rangel Center for Public Service at the City College of New York, a project that caused controversy last year when he won a $1.9 million congressional earmark to help start it.”
Rented four rent-stabilized apartments: As the New York Times reported, Rangel had four rent-stabilized apartments “including three adjacent units on the 16th floor overlooking Upper Manhattan” and “six floors below, as a campaign office, despite state and city regulations that require rent-stabilized apartments to be used as a primary residence.” Rangel “paid a total rent of $3,894 monthly in 2007 for the four apartments” even though the “current market-rate rent for similar apartments in Mr. Rangel’s building would total $7,465 to $8,125 a month.” Rangel later relinquished the apartment used as a campaign office.
Took at least two corporate-funded trips: As The Hill newspaper reported, the funding of trips Rangel took to the Caribbean raise questions about whether the trips violated “a two-year-old ethics rule passed after Democrats regained the House.” A major airline “provided in-kind donations of tickets for Rangel and five other members of Congress to fly from their districts to St. Martin.” According to ethics experts, the donation of tickets “for members to use for a specific trip is a clear violation of House ethics rules governing travel.”
Failed to disclose millions of dollars in income and assets: The New York Post reported that Rangel “failed to report as much as $1.3 million in outside income -- including up to $1 million for a Harlem building sale -- on financial-disclosure forms he filed between 2002 and 2006, according to newly amended records.” Rangel also “lowballed his income by as much as $70,000 in 2002, $46,000 in 2003 and $117,000 in 2006” and in 2004 “Rangel left off his disclosure form as much as $430,000 in stock transactions.” CBS News reported that Rangel also omitted a checking account worth more than $250,000.

Conservatives: Don't fall into the Main Stream Media blind Spot

Have you noticed that things don't seem to be moving at warp speed in congress. The main stream media is blowing the horn telling people how the health care bill is getting more popular, not true. When asked people want health care insurance reform yes, but government health care no.

Its kind of the same old story, print only what you want of whatever source you are using. Health care has become an issue in some minds of reforming the health insurance process, which does need to be done. This was Obama's intention since late July when he started saying "health insurance" reform. People around the country overwhelmingly disapprove of the government option. What Obama is doing is simply overloading people with one crisis to the next. Think about this, Iran blows up a week ago, Afghanistan is now a real problem, ACORN exploded and health care is still out there bubbling up. That's a lot for the American people to get their hands around.

People need to understand that if they want to succeed in getting their views across they need to focus on a single issue, maybe two at most. The desire to react to different things which you believe in passionately is hard to control. People need to hold their fire until the issue or two they are seeing as the most important come to the top. A good example is ACORN. Where is the story today? The media has too many things to cover they can't stay on one topic, they want ratings so they move from issue to issue. One day Iran is at the top, the next day its almost completely unheard. Talk radio is no different, Beck was on health care, then it was ACORN, now its Afghanistan. Yes he still mentions the others but he is not driving them home. If you are against cap and trade, when is the last time there was a major story on it? Once or maybe twice a week even on Fox.

Where I'm going to here is that people have lives, they work, they have kids, its hard to stay focused like a laser beam on something without a staff of people working for you. Health care is a make or break issue for America and Obama. The liberals need to pass something, they need to. They will pass something, god only knows what. The other option is total failure and they can't afford to have that. If health care is a big issue for you stay on it. The troops are a big issue for a lot of people, if it is for you try to divide what energy you can among the two. Its hard, but Obama is using everyone, and he has a staff, to get his agenda through congress, Washington is stopped revolving around health care. Don't take your eye off the ball, its to big of an issue to let slide away.

America - Don't Forget about Health Care, Including the Government Option - Because Obama & Democrats Did Not

I would like to take minute or two to say something on health care.The reason I am doing this is because the whole subject has gone off track in several different directions. Obama is mostly to blame for that has he came out supporting health care but has no plan, you might say he came up MIA on this as well.

First we need to clear up a real misconception. Democrats talk about the Republicans not having a plan, this is flat out false, they have several. Democrats say Republicans are not contributing to the dialog, again they have offered several amendments in both the house and senate and none have been taken up. Another thing is that we hear all the time how Obama needs health care to fix the economy. Yet, none of the Democratic proposals cost less than a Trillion dollars over 10 years. These are facts, you can argue all you want but they are the truth and are documented as such. Now a few other things.

Several people have offered the idea of letting people purchase health insurance across state lines which is widely accepted as a way to reduce cost. Yet, no plan from the Democrats have it included, why? Simple, the message has gotten shifted, Obama's original plan was "free" health care, the operative word is "free". When he saw the idea wasn't selling he switched to "health insurance reform" as a way of trying to get traction. He like other liberals realized that the American public was not on board for another government entitlement, which is a nice way of saying "welfare" program, so he switched terms. The reason we do not see ways of reducing insurance costs in any of these plans is because they don't care about what you pay. They care about being able to raise enough money to get government run health coverage for everyone, read "free" for many. A change in words does not mean a change in tactics, Americans need to remember this.

The next thing is a major concern for people, most want to know why are they being forced into buying health insurance and being threatened with fines and even jail time for not doing it? Again, an easy answer, without getting money from everyone they can't raise enough to pay for it. Yes there are cutouts for certain people, but guess who they are. Without money from the "middle class" in the pot, there is not enough to go around. So in other words, when Obama promised over and over during the campaign not to raise taxes on the middle class, he lied. He tried to say its not a tax, but even Democrats have conceded it is. Getting people back to work should be his primary focus, not trying to alter the structure of our nation.

Another thing is coverage for illegals, remember "you lied", or how can you forget. Democrats in the senate and house have blocked amendments that require people to show identification to get medicare and medicaid funds as well as access to the new government option they want, why would you want to do that? They have gone so far as to have the nerve to demand illegal aliens get coverage under a government program. This is in the house and senate. One last thing, the government option is not dead. While it has no support with the American public, Harry Reid is demanding a bill be on the senate floor next week and that it include the public option. If you live in Nevada you should be on Harry Reid without mercy, this man is a disgrace to his state and nation. He is pushing a party agenda over what the voters in Nevada and the United States want. He is a prime example of whats wrong with Washington. Voters in Nevada need to remember this next year when his term is up.

So what does this all mean? It means Democrats and liberals in congress and the White House are still pushing their agenda despite what every poll says the people in the country do not favor.

They are forcing their agenda despite what is harmful to the nation in both the short and long terms. 2010 and 2012 can't get here soon enough.

Obama comes up MIA on Afghanistan

The United States is faced with a few facts about our fight against terrorism, one is that our commander in chief is confused about what to do. So after almost 5 weeks, he still has no idea, now what?

Obama is making a purely political decision based on his own domestic needs. He knows liberals in both houses of congress are against further troop deployments. He is stalling trying to get his health care through and knows he can ill afford to upset them any more than they are already. The fight over health care has become all consuming, yet poll after poll shows little support for his plan and even fewer believe health care should be his priority. Obama is doing what Obama believes is important not what Americans thinks is important. Obama's agenda is starting to show its wearing thin around the edges, not just at home but around the world as well.

What you can see and hear more and more from foreign news services is that Obama is being perceived to be what he is, weak. He truly believes he can change the outcome of things by his force of personality. This is a dangerous mindset for him and for the United States. When he plays to a crowd inside America he has the press fawning over him, people screaming like he is a rock star, hanging his pictures all over their homes, life sized card board Obama's standing in a corner. Then reality sets in. The rest of the world doesn't see him that way. The people it matters most with surely do not. Rogue states around the world have no fear of him. This new "soft power" tactic is not working so well. The Russian's have hosed him in public twice now and he keeps going back for more. Even the French are telling us that we are not being hard enough on Iran, this is the French telling America we are not aggressive enough, whats happened? Iran said sure you can look at our enrichment site, Obama demanded in two weeks or less, so they come out and say a little over three if you please. Obama says that's a positive step, sure, lets give them 4 or 5 weeks to clean everything up before we get there. Not like that ever happened in Iraq or anything.

Now, with an army in the field Obama doesn't know what to do. But you will never hear the press say that, will you? We have Joe Biden who has not got a foreign policy decision right in the past 20 years, involved in deciding what to do, great. Biden has been on the wrong side of history for a decade, yet he is in the mix. What does that tell you about Obama? With an economy in a slow death spiral, terrorists being arrested monthly inside the United States, Islamic extremist terrorists by the way. North Korea testing nukes and new missiles. Iran on the verge of nuclear weapons testing long and short range ICBM's, not to mention shooting people in the street. The Russians once again expanding their sphere of influence, the dollar sinking like a stone around the world and the Chinese worrying about getting their money back. Obama's time is being spent on his big priority, health care for his supporters. That would be at the top of my list, how about you?

When a soldier in which ever branch he or she may be in comes up missing in the morning, they use the term MIA (missing in action) to describe him/her until they have been found or their status is known. Its sad to say, but Obama is MIA when it comes to Afghanistan, when he should be standing firmly behind the military as they have troops in battle, he is sitting at the table with liberals crying over health care.

The "Iraq" Factor in Iran - How the Iranians are using It against US

The world is hearing more and more about Iran's drive for nuclear weapons. New reports float up everyday indicating just how far advanced Iran is toward achieving their goal. If they do, the world will never be the same.

Iran is benefiting from the Iraq factor. What? The Iraq factor. Iran knows that despite the main stream liberal media blaming everything on George Bush, the real failure in Iraq was the intelligence was not current or accurate. Iran knows that's Iraq was developing all kinds of weapons, they also know first hand that Iraq not only possessed weapons of mass destruction they used them, on Iranians, hundreds of thousands of them. So I am sure to them, the big fuss over the WMD's not being found neatly stacked up in a building somewhere, seems rather odd. The Iranians are not stupid, if they play on the fact that the West got it wrong in Iraq, it buys them time and room to maneuver on their own programs. If they hide enough of the program at some point it will come down to an educated guess and they are banking on the fact that Obama doesn't have enough backbone to drive forward.

The problem for the world, is that if Iran gets too much time they will develop a nuclear weapon. Once this happens things change forever. First, we can not return to the good old days of the cold war. The MAD principle, or mutually assured destruction, will not work on Iran. It worked on the Russians because they wanted to live, they wanted to survive. If you view Iran as a giant suicide bomber, it may help to clear things up. The risk of waiting to find out if they have a bomb is a risk the world can't take. The cost for waiting and finding out they have tested a nuke is most likely catastrophic. Everyone is looking at Israel as the country most likely to strike at the Iranian program. While this may be true, Israel should not be alone in this quest. If push comes to shove the United States should and must lead the way. If this type of action happens, then the US must not only destroy any suspected nuclear sites, but we need to wipe out their conventional forces ability to make war. Destroy their air force, sink their ships, knock down their air defenses and destroy their armored units. Paying special attention to missile development areas. This would need to be done for two very good reasons. The first is to try to prevent as much of an Iranian counterstrike as possible. They will use terrorism with or without conventional arms. Second, they must not be permitted to re-arm to a point where they can threaten the region, which they now do.

This would be a drastic step but a step that would help to ensure peace in the region on some level for a good period of time. One other thing it would do. If Iran knows the response of the United States will not be limited in scale to just a few sites, they may reconsider their stance on nuclear weapons. The price will be very high for them should we implement this type of reaction, if the price is high enough, they may not want to pay it. The Iraq factor is still giving them hope they can pull this off. If Obama wants certified proof of nuclear weapons, he will probably have to wait until they make a large hole in the ground one day, unfortunately it will be too late to do anything meaningful about it then.

We all remember that our favorite worthless Senator, the infamous Arlen Specter jumped ship and ran over to the Democrats and helped Obama to pass the Stimulus Bill. But here is a little reminder of just how much of a weasel he is. This video shows then Republican Senator Specter blasting "HillaryCare", government run health care.

What a difference 15 years make, right? What this really shows is that he has been in the senate for way to long. Why the change in his position? Simple, he needs to get re-elected. Obama is campaigning for him plus he slipped in a few billion in the stimulus bill for cancer research, that would be like cancer Specter has. He got bought off plain and simple. When he saw the polls showing him running way behind Pat Toomey, he bailed, its pretty easy, he knew he could not win the Republican primary because of his support for Obama. That was a few months ago, this is now.

Now he supports "ObamaCare", the government option as its called. So lets see here, for all you Specter fans, all three of you that is, why do you think he has changed? Its appears that Specter is willing to do whatever benefits him, not the people he represents. To be sure this is a common occurrence in Washington today. What does this say about Arlen Specter? It tells me and many other, he needs a dictionary like Obama, only in Specters case he needs to look up the word "integrity", because he definitely doesn't have any. So is it "Toomey for Senate"? It looks that way.

I asked a few days ago for someone to show me were the Democrats are getting the information that they keep repeating, the line heard over and over is "the American people support health care". I guess I should have known, they are kind of stretching the truth to the breaking point. When the debate they are involved in is about Obama's health care plan, they side step part of the issue, the main part. Government run health care.

I saw a few interesting poll numbers that reflect how bad things are getting in the country. One the Democrats don't talk about is the fact that Rasmussen Reports has only 24% of people supporting the Democrats trying to push health care through without at a minimum of at least some Republican support. The other numbers that are stunning are coming from Fox News/Opinion Dynamics, they have a poll showing a 53% to 33% on support for health care. 33% is the lowest level of support yet recorded. These number are in keeping with other polls. So I go back to where I came from, were is this support?

Try these numbers out from Rasmussen Reports. On handling the Iraq War 47%(R) - 37%(D). On taxes 48%(R) - 40%(D). On immigration issues 45%(R) - 33%(D). Get this one, it should tell you a lot, on economic issues 47%(R) - 39%(D). Since 37.5% of people polled say they are Democrat's, if you look at those numbers across the board, it shows they are barely getting their own voters let alone independents or the famous middle. This last number is the worst.

62% of people believe that their children will not have it as good as they did, meaning the parents believe that they are better off than their children will be and they can't do anything to fix it. Imagine parents believing they can't do something to improve their children's lives over their own. That's sad, there is no American dream for these people. Let me say right now, there is no liberal spin in the world for this one. This is Obama's fault. In July that number was 53%, in January of this year the number was 47%. In January at least a little over half of the people thought things would be better for their kids, now almost 2/3's of the country have lost that hope. Maybe this is what Obama meant by change.

This is an excellent video, 8 new taxes and best of all, jail time if your fail to get health insurance. How do you define the word "liberal", because using the dictionary, the same one Obama needed, liberals in congress obviously don't know the real meaning of the word.

So lets see how this works, congress and Obama pass a law telling you you must buy something, if your refuse they "fine" you and if you don't pay the fine you can go to prison for up to 1 year and have to pay another fine of up to $250,000. Somehow that sounds more like communism than it does America, at least the America a grew up in. Maybe they do it like that in Kenya, but not here. The constitution of the United States limits the power of government, it tells government what they can't do to you, not what you must do for them. I think Obama and his liberal friends need a history lesson, they have it reversed. Again, revolutions were started for less. Guess what happens to the people in power when the revolution starts, or better yet, why not read a little history and find out.

A Look Inside the Unemployment Numbers The Average work week Down to 33 hrs. Long Term Unemployment to New Highs. How's that Stimulus Bill Working?

I wanted to take a look at the numbers inside the unemployment numbers everyone gets on the news. The story is very misleading to say the least. While it appears the unemployment rate only went up 1/10 of 1%, that's not the story. Did anyone notice the lack of mention of the infamous Stimulus Bill, the one that would keep unemployment below 8%, that one.

Its also a very true story. The number of lost jobs was 263,000 last month yes. What makes it not exactly true is that the depth of this recession is so bad that people are exhausting their unemployment benefits and falling out of the system completely. In September over 500,000 people left the unemployment compensation rolls. That means using the government way of counting, half a million people don't get included in the 9.8%. Only people who are collecting benefits count in that number. If you go back and add in all of the people who have run through their benefits, the total unemployment rate is at 17%. The problem here is that the long term unemployed is at its highest level since the great depression. Yes, the U-3 unemployment number was higher in the 70's and early 80's, but, the long term unemployment picture was no where near this bad. Like I mentioned above, I'm not seeing the Stimulus just yet, are you?

The other number hidden inside the story is the average number of hours workers are working. Everyone thinks that if you are full time you work 40 hours per week. For the most part that's true except for the past several months it has changed. The average number of hours Americans are working per week now is 33. That's right, 33. This means a couple bad things. One, even people who are working have in effect taken an 18% pay cut. Two, companies always give current employees more hours before they start hiring new ones. This shows that new hiring on any real scale will be a ways off yet. This number is one that the media loves to play with. In August all you heard was how "worker hours increased as well, a sign things are picking up". Its a flat out distortion of the truth. Yes, the average did pick up for the August numbers, but the gain was to 33.1, up from July that was at 33, like we are now. I don't know about you, but an extra 6 minutes on your paycheck for the week probably won't get you too excited will it?

What I'm saying here is that the economy is bad, people need to have an understanding of what is really happening, not the spin the media wants to give you. Look, we all know they don't want to damage Obama, so they down play the story. If this was George Bush or any other Republican they would not shut up. Think back to after 9/11, the economy tanked. A few months later it started to come back, new jobs were being created at 200,000 a month. The news media proclaimed it as a weak and feeble recovery. Yet now, when we loose over a quarter a million jobs a month, so they say almost nothing. You can play politics with the numbers, but that doesn't help people try to get their hands around the problem. When people understand long term unemployment is worsening fast, the depth of the recession starts to come into focus. The House passed a 13 week extension, again, for more unemployment compensation. But even this is a shell game, they passed the bill yes. The bill requires more taxes being levied on employers to pay for it. These would be the same employers who they want to start hiring back workers. The lack of leadership in both congress and the White House is truly pathetic. Its just a mater of time before the American people demand a "change", because they have lost "hope" in a pile of promises and speech's that amount to nothing but self aggrandisement and ego building.

That Evil George Bush Strikes Again! But How?

I don't know how he did it, that evil George Bush guy strikes again. Just when you thought he was gone, boom!I have only one question for the liberals out there. How and who will be the first to blame George Bush for Obama not getting the Olympics? Which one of the main stream media boobs, will be first to cross the line. Its the whole evil empire thing, you know, come to the dark side. I wonder if he had Carl Rove help him or maybe it was Dick Cheney that did it.

Forget that Obama left the country to make a personal pitch for his home town (Valerie Jarret) to get the big payoff from hosting the Olympics. Forget the fact that he could not find the time to meet or even talk with either of his two military commanders in the field, Iraq and Afghanistan. Forget the fact that unemployment is off to the moon. Worse yet, forget the fact that he tried to upstage Michelle. No, no, Chicago needed the Olympics, thats more important than anything like a war or two or the economy.

So all I can say is who will be first, before the weekend is over it will happen, you know Obama can't fail at anything. At least not and take the blame for it. One other thing, if you come to the dark side, we have cookies.

Cash for Clunkers - A preview of Obama's Health Care - Did I mention GM sales Crashed by 45% & Chrysler by 42% Last Month

Well now we have the results of another great liberal experiment gone wrong. The now infamous "Cash for Clunkers" program that we were told by the main stream media was a huge success, has now been demonstrated to be a complete failure and the media is still hiding it.

Yesterday at approximately 4:00pm, Yahoo had an article on its home page, flashing that "Ford sales plunge 5%". That is true, here comes the liberal spin. While it is true that Ford's sales fell 5.1%, General Motors fell, get this 45.1%, that's just slightly higher isn't it? Wait Chrysler didn't want to be out done so they fell 42%. Why do you think we see Ford going down, but not GM or Chrysler? Could it be that Ford did not get bailed out by the government, or maybe that Ford isn't union owned has something to do with it. You wouldn't want to make the liberals look bad would you?

There's more, overall auto sales fell 22.7% from last September and are down 27.4% for the year, despite the government handout. So whats next? Another cash for clunkers bailout? No, Obama being the rocket scientist that he is has a new and better idea. He is spending $23 billion to jump start lower income home ownership programs. Oh great, I seem to remember that the housing bubble is kind of where this started. The government through the Community Reinvestment Act forced banks and other lenders to give loans to unqualified people who ended up not being able to pay for the homes. Hence the collapse.

New job numbers came out today, we seem to have lost another 263,000 jobs, oops. Here's the killer, over 500,000, that's half a million people fell off unemployment last month. Add those poor people back in and you at a neat 17%. But don't worry, Obama's stimulus bill will stop unemployment from going over 8%, the great one has spoken. Other than these small little things, the Cash for Clunkers Program was a great success, just think what he can do with your health care.

Reid, Pelosi & Obama's Secret plan to Pass Health Care - What you need to Know

Senator Harry Reid has a plan or two to get the health care bill passed in the Senate. These plans are a little more sneaky and underhanded than people realize. Yes there is "reconciliation", but he is trying to attach health care to the Tarp Bill revamp which taxes some TARP recipients, this has been side lined for months. If he can do that he thinks he has a way through. Reid understands he can't get 60 votes on an up or down vote which is what most Americans think happens in the Senate. If he gets two committees in the Senate to pass a version of health care he can get it to a floor vote, he hopes to get enough votes to get the bill out to the House. And then have the House vote on what ever the Senate passes so they don't have to come back to a conference committee were it could sink. This way they could send the bill to Obama directly without any review or revisions which he knows again, will sink it.

The House under Pelosi won't vote until the Senate does, they do not want to expose their liberal members to a vote for the bill, if the bill they vote for won't pass the Senate. To put members in a line and make them go on the record to vote could be murder for Democrats in moderate to conservative districts. If the Senate under Reid can pass a bill that can get just enough support in the House to get it across the line, Pelosi will attempt to shield her more vulnerable members. She can let them vote against the bill in hopes voters in their home districts will not hold the passage of the health care bill against them individually. Pelosi needs to try to attempt to protect the Democratic majority, she knows full well they will loose seats, the only question is how many and how far the loses will go. Joe Biden came out last week at a fund raiser and told liberals that if the Democrats loose 30 seats in the House, the agenda he and Obama have for the country is done.

With a recent poll showing senior citizens have only a 16% approval rating for the Obamacare plan, Democrats are trying hard to confuse the issue. The whack job Democrat with the "GOP wants you to die fast"sign is simply trying to counter the Sarah Palin "death panels" message. The simple fact is that liberals and Democrats have lost the battle for the American public. They are well aware that it takes 40 Republican seats being picked up in the House and Pelosi won't be the speaker any more. They also know that several Democratic Senators are suddenly vulnerable including Harry Reid himself. Blanche Lincoln in Arkansas is in trouble, Specter is sunk in Pennsylvania, experts have estimated the GOP could pick up anywhere between 2 and 6 seats. Not enough to swing the majority over, but enough to stop anything crazy Obama and the liberals want.

The country has spoken on this health care issue, and still the Democrats move forward against the will of the people. They know the cost's so they are attempting to call it something else, like attaching it to a tax bill to try to get the votes but using a budget trick in the Senate called reconciliation. The only thing the American people can do in the short term, is to make sure Harry Reid understands he will not come back next year. The GOP must target Reid with everything they have. Any Democratic leader who pushes this must not get re-elected no matter what happens. Members like Pelosi are generally seen as having a "safe" seat, Ok, she can't be speaker again come hell or high water, period. The American public needs to wake up and understand these liberals will try to get this done no matter what the citizens want. This is not the form of government in our constitution, this is government dictating to the people what they will get. Revolutions have begun over such things.

The impending train wreck in the economy, its coming. Whats this another doom and gloom prediction? No. Its a view of what may/will occur in the next few months, maybe next spring or so. Its not the normal stuff you hear on the news or read in the paper, so give me a few minutes of your time, and follow along.

We all know the problems with Iran, we all know the problems with the stagnant economy. Now what would happen if tomorrow the economy started gaining 250,000 new jobs a month? Here is an answer for you, since we have lost close to 7 million jobs since the recession started and using what the Obama administration calls a robust growth rate, the 250,000 number, it would take 56 months to just get back to where we started. How does this work? According to the Department of Labor, the United States needs to create 125,000 new jobs a month just to keep up with growth in the work force. That leaves 125,000 going to cut into people already jobless. So if we use their numbers and Obama's assumptions you end up at 56 months, over 4 1/2 years just to get back to where we were. This assumes no bumps along the way and the job growth starting today. Neither of which is happening.

Here come the bumps. Iran wants nukes, most everybody concedes that fact, everybody but the Russians and the Chinese and the Iranians that is. The Iranians have already made it clear they will not negotiate over their nuclear program and the Russians and Chinese have made it clear as well, they will not support harsh sanctions, which may or may not work anyway. Lets says that the Iranians test a nuke in a couple months. Oil prices will jump to $200.00 a barrel in a few days trading. Panic will set in over the Persian Gulf. The panic will be lead by the Arab states who do not under any circumstance want Iran with a nuke. Assuming the Israeli's do not bomb them after learning of the nuclear test. Take another scenario where the Israelis get worried and strike Iran. Oh yea, terrorism will be all over the Middle East, it will make its way to Europe and America soon thereafter.Now that's bad enough, imagine what happens to the price of oil then, $200.00 - $250.00 a barrel like a shot. What does this mean?

It means gas is $4.50 to $5.50 a gallon in a week or two. Heating oil at $4.50 a gallon. We have seen last summer what happens at $4.00 a gallon, collapse. Now we all can concede that the economy is not what it was a year or so ago. If it ground things to a halt then, it will stop everything now, won't it? Prices will skyrocket for everything, people are already broke. How many new jobs get created then? None. This tosses out the window the job growth numbers for the foreseeable future, I mean a long while. Now why am I bringing this whole story up? Because I think most people believe that there is a very good chance that these events or worse will unfold. I did not make any assumptions or criticize Obama at all. What I did was too take what is really happening in the big picture.

My worry, no my belief and many many others believe this was well, is that Obama is in over his head on the world stage. Yes he gives great speech's, yes he apologizes for America everywhere he goes. Liberals can spin the tale any way they choose, how the world loves Obama and its a whole new era of cooperation and so on. But, and its a big but, facts don't bear any of it out. Since Obama took office North Korea tested multiple missiles including long range missiles. Iran launched a satellite into space. Then North Korea tested another nuke. Then the Iranian elections turn into a bloodbath. Wait, we find a new enrichment site in Iran and they responded so well to Obama's gestures they tested several new medium and long range missiles, missiles able to reach Europe and Israel. Chavez agrees to supply Iran with refined fuels which is their only real weak point. The Chinese remain silent while Russia gives statements that they oppose strong actions against Iran, this even after Obama pulled the missile shield from two of our most dependable allies.

American voters are known for not following complex issues. This is a complex issue. Iran affecting our economy, how does this work? I just took a little of your time, you need to look into this yourself. Most voters last year never looked at anything like this happening. I can sit here and tell you I did, but so what. Others can say the same thing, but it won't change things right now. The only thing you can do is try to understand whats happening and get engaged. Make the changes when you can. Listen, I hope I'm wrong but I don't think I am.

After all the news swirling around Iran, I found a few interesting items. First is the list below of the companies, American Companies still doing business with Iran. This was actually surprising to me since I believe I heard Obama telling everyone about sanctions at the UN. Even Hillary is out there telling people that she believes Iran can't prove that their nuclear program is peaceful in nature.

That I agree with, what I do not agree with is that 20 or so US companies are still are doing business with the worlds most dangerous regime. I also find it a little confusing that the Obama administration is pushing for actions on Iran but we can't stop US companies from selling things to them. Another little item, GE announced a little over a week ago that they would stop doing business with Iran, really good timing right? I think not, since Obama and GE are joined at the hip, think NBC/MSNBC, its more than just luck that GE made the announcement a few days before Obama made his big announcment at the UN regarding the secret enrichment site in Iran.

Notice that companies including Chrysler made the list. The billions of tax payer dollars they recieved must not have been enough, so Iran just makes sense. Can someone explain to me how Obama and his car czar can permit this to happen? A Thought on Poll's - Why Not Show the American People Who Does Support Obamacare? What are Liberals Trying to Hide?

A look at the recent numbers shows a few things that should help to dispel the new liberal talking points. First is that some how all of a sudden, liberals are saying they are the majority in the country. For months now, poll after poll shows that's not true. A recent poll showed 61% of the people polled said they were "conservative". While I understand that your version and my version of conservative might be a little different the base definition is the same. Only 32% said they were liberal. Now while we have polls on all kinds of things, some things no one wants to poll, why? Probably because they won't like the answer, or they don't want to give information out that proves the oppositions pionts.

Rasmussen came out yesterday with numbers on health care, the numbers are going in the opposite directions. The approval number is down to 41%, the disapproval number is now up to 56%. That's getting to be a sizable spread, yet liberals are trying to push the bill through no matter what the public wants. The new line from the administration is now saying the numbers have "stabilized". Ok, true the slide has slowed because it can't get much lower, you are cutting into the Democratic base now. Another thing, Obama's personal numbers are going down as well. He is below 50% in most polls, or just hugging the line at 50%. Yet, no matter what they see in polls, liberals are still saying Obama is a popular president that has wide support from around the country. Why don't we have a poll of the middle class, the famous middle class, showing support for the health care bill inside that group?

Another number inside the Rasmussen poll, is the number of people who strongly support the health care bill proposed by the Democrats is at 23%, while the number who strongly oppose it is at 43%. Again, this is a two to one swing, yet they want this bill no matter what. The only thing I do not understand, is when was the last time in the history of our nation has the public resisted anything this one sided and the government plowed ahead anyway? This is a government that was designed to represent the people through elections. The representatives and senators who are in Washington are there to represent the views of the people who sent them there. So ask yourself this. If these people represent you, and you have made your opinion known to them, the last part is very important never forget that, do you believe the majority of the people who voted that person into office feel the same as you? If you answered yes, then who ever your congress person is, he or she is responsible to follow the wishes of their constituents aren't they?If this plan has wide support the Democrats have an obligation to at least show us where and from whom it is being supported don't they?

Another number to consider, seniors are now only giving the Obama plan a 33% approval rating, with 59% against. Yet, they still move forward. The question everyone should be asking and the answer would be very telling to be sure, is who exactly supports the Obama health care agenda?

Show us in these polls what groups support it, meaning its not seniors, its not independents, its not conservatives, so who is it? Are these people black or white, young or old, man or women, show the American public were the plan has majority support, don't you want to know? I know I do. I also know this, if the numbers that are out there in every sampling hold, the liberals and Democrats in congress and the one at the White House are disregarding the will of the American people, which is who they where sent there to represent.

The truth Behind, The UN, Obama, Iran & Nukes

The story we got last week from the meeting at the United Nations was pure theater. Obama was playing his role as "president of the world" while everyone looked on. The production itself left a little to be desired when you get the whole story.

The last day of the big UN meeting Obama came out and announced the well known secret that Iran has another enrichment site. The French and the British came out stronger than did Obama when addressing the media, the French president drawing a line in the sand so to speak. Obama sounding like a dove, talking about new deadlines and such. How about this, any Obama supporter out there please feel free to respond. The day before, Obama was given the rare opportunity to preside over the meeting of the United Nations Security Council. Since Obama knew of this enrichment site for weeks, why didn't he bring it up in the proper forum where any action that can be taken against Iran through the UN must occur? He could have simply put this out on the table and said lets go. Instead of threatening harsh sanctions, why not just do it? Why not lay out your plan in front of the body who is where you will need to go anyway to get want you want? This could save months and time is of the essence, or at least we are being told that by Obama. If this is the case why play around, unless of course you don't have the votes, like Russia and China.

Now how could this be? We dropped the missile shield right? Russia is happy now, they would want to help us right? China, the fact that we owe them $780 billion means nothing, right? Or could it be, that Obama knows full well he can't do anything on Iran and he won't use the military so he just wants to talk to them, no matter what? The real story is that Obama knew of the plant in Iran and did nothing when he had the opportunity to. He did nothing to avoid embarrassment over the fact that Russia and China won't do anything meaningful to Iran, its not in their best interest to do so. Don't worry, the main stream media will hide this and you will never hear of it, but just take a minute and think about what I just said. Obama and most of the world knows the UN will never do anything to Iran that really has meaning, which leaves us where? In the hands of the community organizer in chief, thats where.

I wanted to take a minute to congratulate Erick Erickson from http://www.redstate.com/. He has made the Southern Poverty Law Centers evil/nasty persons list. It seems that Erick got added last week and they didn't even have a party.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, a group of dedicated liberals has decided that people like Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rick Perry (The Gov. of Texas) and Chuck Norris, Chuck Norris? Anyway, they seem to feel these people are inciting people to have Timothy McVeigh like episodes where they bomb federal buildings and hate minorities. A couple things here, first if these morons watched the news in the past week, they would find out we do have a domestic terrorist problem, its called Islamic Extremism. Second, most normal people in America would not mind being on a list with Chuck Norris, why Chuck Norris I do not know. I remember now, he is not exactly a big fan of Obama's health care agenda.

Health Care the Post Office Way - The return of the Pony Express

I wanted to give you a perfect real world example of why the federal government can't be allowed to run health care. To do this I wanted to use the example that Obama gave last month on how the post office was going broke and UPS and FEDEX are doing well. Yes it sounded funny, as he was making my point, but to show you how this really works I wanted to document something for you, its a true story.

I wanted to mail a package to a person who lives just outside of Pittsburgh, I was mailing the package from the capitol of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg. Harrisburg is due east from Pittsburgh, a straight shot on the PA Turnpike. According to Map Quest, the distance to the destination was 226.4 miles, with a travel time of 3.5 hours. Ok, when I sent this package I used the Post Office delivery confirmation system, which enables you to track the package you sent. So I decided to track it after a day or two to see if it had arrived. I was amazed by what I had found.

The package had been sent to Swedesboro, Nj, which is east and south of Harrisburg, where it started. Again, using Map Quest, it turns out that Harrisburg to Swedesboro is 105.8 miles with a travel time of just over 2 hours. Then the next day they shipped it from Swedesboro back out towards Pittsburgh, which again per Map Quest was 328.8 miles and 5.4 hours. The package did finally arrive at its destination three days after I sent it. Why am I telling you this, simple.

The time required to send the package to its destination was 3.5 hours, but it took 7.4 hours. The distance was 226.4, but after shipping it in the wrong direction, to I am sure a "sorting" center, it became 434.6 miles. I don't care how you look at that, they doubled the required time and distance needed to complete the task at hand. In other words, it took twice as long and they went twice as far as needed. Because of economic competition from UPS and FEDEX they can only charge a certain amount for their services, so in the end they loose money. Now using this valuable information, just imagine how they will take care of your health care. If you can't find an efficient way to deliver a letter, how can you handle the huge task of running health care for over 300 million Americans? I would love to see Obama comment on that?

Bill says its a "Vast Right Wing Conspiracy" again, This Time they are After Obama - Yes he Really Said It

I was watching the Sunday morning shows today and there was my boy, Bill Clinton giving an interview with David Gregory from MSNBC talking about the problems that Barack Obama is facing as president. Clinton was talking about all kinds of things, and then it happened, Gregory asked him if as Hillary had said somewhere around 1995, was Obama facing a vast right wing conspiracy? And the best part here is that he said, Yes he is. Bill told him that it was stronger when he was president because he thinks the country has shifted somewhat since then. So as to help clear this up, I grabbed this video for you to watch. Its kind of a blast from the past.

If you remember the whole thing started over Monica and Hillary's defense of slick willie. She said it was all a lie and that it was a "vast right wing conspiracy" that was working to bring down Bill's presidency. She was "standing by her man", at least until the truth came out. This video is for all of us "right wingers" who need a good laugh, its just another liberal fabricating the truth but hey, its kind of fun when that liberal comes out and tells you that the very same group that was conspiring against him is now conspiring against Obama. I know one thing, Obama had better hope Clinton isn't trying to help him with these comments because what they point out is how discredited and foolish Hillary looked when the truth came out. Or maybe Bill is trying to tell us Obama is lying too?

Springfield Armory's Squad Scout may be the best Of the M1A Bunch

Springfield Armory Makes the ever popular M1A rifles, a civilian version of the military M-14. It makes them in three sizes, small, medium and large. It even adds whipped cream and nuts if you like. They have deluxe versions with all the bells and whistles and they have the basic original as well. What you choose is up to you, but here is something to consider about the Scout carbine, or as they call it the Squad Scout.

If you want a heavy hitter in a rifle, bigger than an AR-15 style weapon, this might just be the rifle. Its not as small as the SOCOM 16, but is much shorter than the Standard M1A. The Scout features good things from both and I think comes up the winner. It has an 18" barrel, a lot shorter than the Standard, but 2" longer than the SOCOM. It has normal rifle sights like the full sized version, but also has a forward mounted rail for putting optics on the weapon, like the SOCOM again. By the way, the Squad Scout was first out the gates ahead of the SOCOM 16. The Scout comes in at just over 40" in total length and at about 9.3lbs according to Springfield. They offer the Scout in wood, black or camo stock versions, the weapon also has a unique flash suppressor/muzzle break that works very well. Now a few the basic's like the fact that the weapon is chambered in 7.62 NATO and feeds from standard M-14 magazines make things a little nicer for the owner. The 7.62mm provides the punch many people feel the 5.56mm lacks. To be sure if you need more power, then the 7.62mm is the way to go compared to the M-16 family of weapons. Yes it does recoil a little more than a 5.56mm but in no way does it get to a point where you feel any pain. No you can't shoot it as fast as the AR-15, but it can produce a good deal of fire if needed. My Scout is set up with a fixed three power scope mounted on the rails with quick disconnect mounts. I can promise you at 100 yards head shots are no problem at all, at 50 yards you pick which eye. The rifle, like the other M1A's I have is extremely accurate, at 50 yards it drop's a magazine of 18 rounds into a hole a little bigger than a golf ball. Not bad when you consider I am using 147gr military ammo. I have never fired match ammo out if it as I have no reason to, this rifle is perfect for its designed role, it provides punch out to longer ranges than the 5.56mm can. Look at the military use of the M-14 in both Iraq and Afghanistan, they needed more weapon and they got it. They dusted off the old M-14's and found that having a 7.62mm weapon was still needed in the US arsenal.

Just so everybody understands, the 7.62x51 NATO round is a 308 Winchester in the civilian world, so if you have a 308win bolt, these weapons make nice companions. If you are like the military and think one is needed in your arsenal as well, the Squad Scout might by just the ticket. The full size rifle is longer and hard to move fast, this rifle seems to cut into those problems in a big way. The SOCOM is short and fast but doesn't seem as accurate and is harder to control when you are in a hurry. If you have shot an M-14 or the full size M1A, this is the exact same weapon, cleaning and operation are the same for all three M1A's. Springfield has a hit with these rifles to be sure, they are hard to find on a regular basis. Now that the "Obama rush" is over they should be out there again. Good shooting.............

Iran test's New Missiles - The Nightmare Scenario gets Closer, The "Commander in Chief" Gap Starts to Show

The nightmare scenario in the Middle East is getting closer everyday and most people don't seem to either care or they don't understand how close we really are to it. The worse part is that I don't think Obama does. The real question is what happens when/if Israel strikes the Iranian nuclear facilities? Iran testing new missiles just makes things speed up, not slow down.

First people need to understand that an Iran with nuclear weapons is not something which can be let to happen. Iran doesn't want a nuke to say "we have one", they want a nuke to use one. If Iran has nuclear weapons and they decide to invade Iraq, do you believe Obama has the nerve to stop them if they are providing a nuclear umbrella for their forces? You know the answer and so do I, and so does Iran. How about a port in Spain just goes up in a mushroom cloud? No warning nothing. Hezbollah, which is the largest terrorist organization in the world is funded and run by Iran and would be the first thing that comes to mind in a case like that. Would Obama strike back, or would he have the FBI under the direction of Eric (Renditions) Holder investigate it until everyone got put to sleep and if we did find anyone involved we would never get any information from them as we have to ask politely and read them their rights. Forget all that, what about an American city instead. Not a real good picture is it?

If Israel strikes Iran, what happens next? Iran will attempt to block crude oil shipments, that's the same as the 1979 era strategy. Then what? Iran will retaliate against American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, not in a direct frontal attack but in a end run using groups like Hamas and Hezbollah. They also will attack American and Israeli interests around the world, such as businesses, tourist spots, shipping ports, military bases and airports. You know that Israel will be the first place they will attempt to strike back at with a terrorist campaign. This where things change, what about inside America itself? Do you really believe that won't happen? Look at the arrests this week alone, we have plenty of terrorist problems even after Obama thinks the "war on terror" somehow ended.

Hezbollah has dozens of training camps in this country. Dozens of funding groups pouring in cash and other support to them. Thousand of supporters maybe more inside this country. Everyone focuses on Al Qaeda, with good reason, but Hezbollah is the worlds largest most deadly terrorist organization by far. One thing everyone must understand, Obama can't talk them into not acting if they choose to. Hezbollah is the group that blew up the Marine barracks and US embassy in Beirut in 1983, remember them. Obama is still believing he can talk them out of doing whatever they choose to do, he can't. While he plays games they move forward. The "new" enrichment site he was "disclosing" this past week is not new. After Iran says sure come look, they start testing new missiles. Tomorrow they will be testing new longer range weapons that can reach Israel. Remember that whole missile defense thing last week?

The bottom line here is simple. Obama may or may not be in over his head. But, one thing for sure, he is spending way to much time and effort trying to get his precious health care bill passed. The world is a dangerous place, running around apologizing for America is getting old fast with Americans. Obama is worried "his" presidency will be a failure like Carters. He believes he if does not get health care passed he will be broken or a failure. Maybe, honestly I hope that's true, but I will promise you one thing for sure. If Obama allows Iran to go nuclear, his health care bill will be the last thing anyone remembers for what will be considered the single worst administration in at least a century.

Survivalist's - Fire Power or Stopping Power, which is Best and Why? Just keep Looking for the Phaser

Ok here's a topic that has been going around for a long time. If you were in a survival situation do you want your weapons to have "fire power" or "stopping power"? No, its not a trick nor is it a dumb question. Most people really don't understand the difference and what it means to your weapons selection.

First lets understand that "fire power" means the amount of fire(bullets)you can put on a target. Stopping power is as it appears, its relates to the ability to "stop" the threat with as much certainty as possible with one round. It goes like this, the typical debate is 9mm vs 45acp in a pistol. The 45acp is bigger and slower, but has a habit of knocking people down. The 45acp pistol in general does not carry as many rounds in the magazine as the 9mm, that's the firepower part. Depending on the threat you believe you will face, you could adapt your choice of weapon to fit your needs. People being what they are try to have it both ways. High capacity 45's are out there now, like the Glock 21/21sf, or the Para Ordnance government model style pistols, there are others I'm sure. Another idea was to make a cartridge in the middle, hence the 40s&w, a shortened 10mm. It has a higher capacity than a 45acp, a little less than a 9mm, and has good stopping power. Its a compromise weapon, there is nothing wrong with that but you can't apply it to other weapons, such as rifles.

Remember you need to have a military grade weapon that can take abuse and that ammunition will be available for. In a rifle you end up with two main calibers, 5.56mm/223rem or 7.62mm/308win. Why these two? Because that's whats out there.Yes you could have an AR-15 style weapon in 6.8mm, again a compromise caliber. But you need to feed this weapon, and it may be a long time before commercial ammunition will be available to you again if things go bad. Don't even start with reloads. The problem no one looks at is cases only reload so many times and if you can't stop to picked them up, sooner rather than later you run out. Having a caliber that may be as good as a phaser is wonderful, when you have it. Another thing to think about, reloading is a hobby, in a survival situation will you have time to sit down a reload say, 2500 rounds at a time? For a carry pistol everyday, a 357sig is a hard round to beat, but if things melt down, where do you get ammo?

Now look, if you use a 40s&w and like it and are good with it, stock up on ammo and go with with you have. If you have a bolt 30-06 rifle that has been around forever, fine just realize its short comings. Survivalist have many movie driven beliefs, like shooting at people 300 yards away. Its almost assured in real life its going to be close and fast. For rifles probably under 100 yards, around the house or on your property, its probably gonna be dim lighting to dark and very close, think 5 to 10 feet. So you have already got the idea, one weapon won't cover both too well. You can make do with a carbine, but unless you are Ok with slinging the weapon in the open, its almost impossible which leads to handguns. I am a huge fan of government 45's, especially the Wilson Combat kind. Pretty much everyday that's what I carry, I believe based on where I live that I should be able to settle most disputes with 9 or less 230gr hydra shok's. I always have at least one extra mag with me so I believe I should be Ok. I must confess that as a police officer I always liked having my Sig P226 9mm sitting there holding 16 rounds and the hydra shok thing seems to work pretty well in 9mm as well. It seems the Navy SEALs are pretty fond of their P226's also.

In the end, for a survival situation when things melt down, I'm afraid you have to go with fire power over stopping power. Shot placement is really the most critical fact in stopping a target. A well placed 9mm round will be more effective than a 45acp round that hits the bad guy in the shoulder. In rifles, kind of the same thing applies. I love Springfield M1A rifles, big bark and a big bite. Great for sitting in your bunker looking over your sand bags, not so great when you need to lug it around. In a car, forget it. You can carry twice as much ammo with a 5.56mm as you can with a 7.62mm, in the same space not to mention the weight factor. Control with an AR-15/M-16 is much greater when firing rapidly, like at multiple targets which I can almost assure you is what you will be facing. If things go badly you will be looking at protecting yourself and maybe others from multiple people, that's how bad guys work, they don't like fair fights.

One other thing, I know where some of you are going, I live in Wyoming and a 223 won't stop a Moose. Ok, your right. But guess what, for the other 99% of people out there its not going to be a moose they need to shoot, its a person. A 5.56mm/223rem will do just fine knocking off a deer sized animal if needed should you get hungry. And no, its not my first choice but it beats whats second. As far as a pistol, 45's are my favorite, but again, a reliable 9mm is probably the way to go for all the reasons I just covered. The 30-06, 7mm mag, 243, 40s&w, 357mag, 38spl and others are all great cartridges. What you need to look at is having enough stopping power to get the job done, combined with the maximum fire power available to you. Keep one other thing in mind, you are not limited to one weapon, meaning a pistol and a rifle and a shotgun go well together. It truly is like looking for a Star Trek phaser, man I want one.

After this week a couple things should be very clear, America does have a domestic terrorist problem and the other thing that should be very clear is that its not who the Obama administration was warning law enforcement about.

After the memo from Homeland Security came months back warning of "right wing" extremists, you know veterans, gun owners, Ron Paul voters, pro-life people, those kind of people, it appears that America may really have what many have long expected, a true domestic terrorist threat. The problem is that if the Obama administration had its way they would be watching you, not the bad guys. The three arrests in the past week or so are being done by professional law enforcement personnel, not political hacks like Janet Napolitano who owes her job to Barack Obama. It was her idea to let the memo that came fly in the first place. These arrests also make very clear one other thing, no matter how much Obama thinks he can talk he way out of anything and how much the liberals think the world loves us now, the war on terror is not over.

The arrest of Najibullah Zazi is the first time a person has been arrested inside the United States who was directly being controlled by Al Qaeda, the controller is located in either Pakistan or Afghanistan, the place where Obama doesn't know what to do. It is also significant that he had plenty of help here other than his father, he had twelve back packs in his apartment, twelve, its a good bet he wasn't planning on wearing them all. On Thursday a Jordanian named Hosam Maher Smadi was arrested in Dallas after he attempted to blow up a building using fake explosives. He was arrested after, get this, after he pushed send on his cell phone to detonate the bomb, I think he meant it, don't you? Then we have Michael Finton, who calls himself Talib Islam. He was arrested in Illinois after trying to blow up the federal building in Springfield. He apparently is a big fan of the American who turned into an Al Qeada/Taliban soldier, John Walker Lindh. Another whack job who was from California.

None of these people snuck into the country across the border in the dead of night, they live here. They are all Al Qaeda inspired, one of them was Al Qaeda controlled. All three were intent on killing as many Americans as possible. All three either had the means, or thought they did, to complete the task at hand. Two of them showed they had every intention of following through on what they set out to bomb. What this once again demonstrates is that despite all the Obama spin in the world, we as a nation face a very real threat from radical Islam. Walking around and apologizing for America will not change that fact. While George Bush may have done many things wrong, he did one thing very well, he kept the country safe. The operations were going on for months, if Obama wants to blame Bush for everything, then he has to concede that these attacks were stopped by plans and people put in place by the Bush administration. Destroying the CIA's ability and desire will certainly not aid in helping to prevent future attacks, and there will be future attacks, from taking place, it can only hurt.

One other small thing, maybe its time that the Obama administration stop kissing up to Islam and start looking at the real situation on the ground. Obama is not grounded in fact, he like other liberals love theory. Its kind of like saying I want a world without nuclear weapons, nice thought, but its not gonna happen. This is the same thing, they need to stop worrying about a "vast right wing conspiracy" and focus on the true enemy before a lot of Americans die because of he and his administrations naive views of the world.

I guess it must just be me, but when the protesters marched in Washington a couple weeks ago, the press didn't show up and neither did the riot police. Remember this was the "angry mob" the "astro turf" gang. Compared to what took place in Pittsburgh with only a few thousand at most, protesters, they weren't so bad after all.

You won't hear the main stream media say it, but the people in Pittsburgh are leftist radicals who hate capitalism and the United States. The people in Washington, were proud Americans who love capitalism and America and just want the country to go back to were it belongs. One a conservative group of patriots, the other a leftist group of anarchists. Yea those dam tea party people were a real mess, they caused all kinds of problems, arrests every where, bad, bad,bad.

Dozens of stores broken into, trash strewn every where you looked, police fire rubber bullets just to keep them under control, what a scene. I guess this women with her sign must have really gotten out of hand. Oh yea, what a difference a couple weeks make. Its hard to imagine that all it took was a few days for things to change. Or maybe, just maybe, it really was the people who made the difference. These are the same people who, despite the lack of press coverage sent a pretty loud message, a lot louder than the nit wits in Pittsburgh. The only question is did the White House and Congress hear it? One thing is for certain, they will next November. Look at it this way, by then all the broken glass will have been cleaned up in Pittsburgh.

As Iran announces it is running another uranium enrichment plant that has been hidden for some time, Obama stands at the United Nations acting and talking tough, the only problem is he is talking out both sides of his face again. Americans saw their tax money go into a bailout of Chrysler, and it made them mad. Answer this. If Obama wants to be so tough on Iran, why is Chrysler still doing business with them? Where is the Car Czar now?

Obama wants to bring other countries on board to get Iran to talk. He had drawn a mid summer dead line, then is was the September 15th dead line, now that they have admitted to a secret enrichment plant, he is looking at October. Sounds line the line in the sand is truly in the sand, its constantly shifting. What I can't understand is why is Chrysler doing business with Iran? For that matter, why are they allowed to sell or trade anything with Iran. American tax payers poured millions into a bail out to save union jobs which was bad enough. Now we find out they are doing business with a country that wants to destroy us.

Where is the Car Czar now? How did he miss this? Or, was it just not important enough to do something about? How can the American people have faith in anything Obama is saying about anything, when they find out a company that he had to save and walk through bankruptcy ruining thousand of Americans in the process, is still doing business with the Iran, an Islamic dictatorship who is bent on obtaining nuclear weapons? You know I don't have a dictionary in front of me, but I believe if the Internal Revenue Service is charged with collecting money, they can only do that with a "tax" of some form. For example, they can't collect tolls for roads or parking tickets or money for a camping spot in a national park, right? What can they collect? Taxes.

Senator Baucus seems to have a nice little tax stuck in his bill, this tax he is calling a "fine" would cover everybody, regardless of income level. Sure they are trying to craft credits based on income but the truth is that they can't get the money to make the plan work unless they tax people well below the promised line of $200,000 income level. So in other words, the middle class gets taxed. Everybody in America even democratic staffers now concede its a tax, even the IRS calls it a tax by definition. The only and I mean only person left that thinks its not a tax is Barack H. Obama. Look, Obama is many things but he is not stupid. He is dishonest and he lies, but he is not dumb. He looked like a fool on Sunday trying to tell people what was so obvious was not really the truth, or at least his version of it. It is intellectually dishonest to lie, get caught, and then sit there and try to actually get people to believe your lie by inventing new definitions to fit your words which is exactly what he did.

Obama made a campaign promise a few hundred times, that not one penny in new taxes would be placed on anybody making below $200,000 per year. I think even the most devoted Obama follower would have to concede that. What he is simply doing is trying to dance around breaking a core campaign promise to the American people. Whats worse is that in either the house or senate versions of the bill, the democrats have loads of taxes on everything you can think of, yes including soda. That's a tax, that's a tax on middle income America. That was a promise he made to middle income American, now he is trying to get out of it and tax middle class America, period end of story. It is clear that Obama would not have been elected if he had sworn over and over, no new taxes. People in this country just don't have it to give, he knew it and he played on it and now he is going back on his word to fund "his" cornerstone agenda item, universal government run health care.

Don't fear, democratic senators feel your pain, they are talking about dropping it down to half, only $2000 per year, isn't that nice of them and they are doing it all for you. It doesn't matter, without the tax revenue the Baucus plan does not as he claimed "pay for itself", none of the plans can. It simple math, without forcing everyone into the health care pool, they can't raise enough money to come close to paying for it. The CBO, even after Obama leaned on them, still says the democratic house plan is $1.5 trillion upside down and the senate plans cut both medicare and medicaid and still does not make it across the no cost line without significant tax increases. Obama and the democrats are being dishonest at every turn, they don't want the light of day on these bills because they know people do not support them. It is becoming clear that Obama and most democrats will do or say anything to get health care passed, they are betting the farm on it so to speak. Obama should like the farm analogy, since all he is selling is bull.

General David Petraeus, the general that executed the surge strategy in Iraq, has come out to support General McChrystal's troop request. Not to worry, Obama picked up a supporter too, Hillary Clinton. Yea, that makes thing even alright.We now have two camps in Washington, the military experts made up of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Admiral Mike Mullen, General David Petraeus and General Stanely McChrystal. These three support sending more troops to Afghanistan to prevent a defeat and to enable the Afghan Army and police to get up to speed, which could take 2 to 3 years.

On the other side of the field is the political hack squad lead up by the community organizer Barack Obama. It's no surprise that with all her world experience especially in regard to military operations Hillary fell in line. I did not realize that between Hillary and Obama they had so much experience and talent when it comes to the United States Military, I had no idea they were such strong supporters of the military. Hillary came out yesterday and said other people said we don't need any troops and that General McChrystal didn't know what he was doing. Obama said he wants to make sure he gets the strategy right. That would be the strategy "he" put in place in March, and his general, that would be "McChrystal" who was executing it. From Obama's own mouth was talk of a surge and more troops and routing out the Taliban and Al-Qaeda.

I was trying to figure out what happened, then it dawned on me, health care happened, or didn't happen would be more correct. Obama is caving to his left wing base. Pelosi, Levin and others made it clear before congress came back that they would not support more troops for Afghanistan. Now since we all know that Obama has made it clear over and over and over that health care is not about him, it can't be that he is afraid he could fail on his number one agenda item could it? What no one is saying is that two separate civilian reports came back over the summer and concluded the exact same thing as General McChrystal, tens of thousand of more troops would be needed, soon. Hillary is playing word games with American military lives. Obama is playing politics with a war.

Its really pretty simple, on one side you have decades of military experience including command and combat experience. These are some of the best we have to offer. On the other side we have the community organizer and a political has been who is sucking up to her boss. Neither have one minute of relevant experience in what they are talking about. Obama flat out lies and says he wants to get the strategy right, Hillary swears to it. If it was not so serious it would be funny. We have the military experts saying one thing and Barry saying something else. This is a war, the military is charged with fighting the war, if you are not going to let them fight it, then bring them home. Using our military and its soldiers as pawns in a political game borders on treason. These people are putting their lives on the line for us, for the nation, not so Obama can try to pass health care without upsetting his liberal base. What Obama does not under stand is that the more of this type of things he does, the deeper the will to oppose anything he wants will get. Democrats in congress can support him at their own peril if they choose. The American public won't forget anytime soon.

“This partisan bill is the wrong prescription during these tough economic times. It increases health care costs, cuts Medicare for seniors, imposes new taxes on struggling middle-class families and small businesses, and has a trillion-dollar price tag. This issue is too important to get wrong. That’s why Democrats should scrap their expensive plans and work with Republicans on a fiscally-responsible proposal that lowers health care costs and expands access for the American people.” Here are the top 10 facts every American should know about Senator Baucus’ proposed government takeover of health care:1. Medicare Cuts Mean Reduced Benefits, Fewer Choices for Seniors. The Baucus plan cuts Medicare by nearly $500 billion, slashing coverage millions of seniors depend on. These benefit cuts will ultimately eliminate choices currently enjoyed by seniors today. Doug Elmendorf, the head of the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, told the Senate Finance Committee yesterday he “expected the Medicare Advantage plans to lose 2.7 million enrollees over the next decade” as a result of the Baucus plan. 2. Individual Mandate Results in Hefty Tax Increase for Millions of Americans. The Baucus plan mandates that every American buy health insurance or pay a hefty new tax to Washington of up to $1,900 per year. This new tax will take another $20 billion hard earned dollars from working families. Especially during a recession, this new tax will place another large burden on the family budget.3. No Junk Lawsuit Reform to Reduce Health Care Costs. The Baucus plan includes only a “Sense of the Senate” with respect to the very pressing issue of junk lawsuit reform. Seriouschanges are needed to reduce costly,unnecessary defensive medicine practiced by doctorstrying to protect themselves from a feeding frenzy of trial lawyers. The Baucusplan misses an opportunity for real reform.4. New Taxes Harm Small Businesses, Costs Jobs. The Baucus plan saddles small businesses that have more than 50 employees with a new tax of up to $199,600 per year if they do not provide health coverage to their employees. Census data compiled by the Small Business Administration, however, reveals that the Baucus “small business exemption” – for businesses with fewer than 50 employees – will still subject many small employers to new taxes and mandates. In fact, this so-called “exemption” could still subject 220,000 small businesses that employ 44% of all small business employees and 22% of the entire private sector workforce to the new taxes and mandates. The 220,000 small businesses targeted by the Baucus plan employ 26.4 million employees and provide those employees $982 billion in wages annually.5. Higher Health Care Costs for Working Families. The Baucus plan would actually raise insurance premiums for working families, not lower them. In a letter to Chairman Baucus, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office stated, “premiums in the new insurance exchanges would tend to be higher than the average premiums in the current-law individual market…” Meanwhile, a recent study published in Health Affairs found that a government-run plan similar to the one being proposed in House Democrats’ bill could cause annual insurance premiums for a family of four to increase by more than $4,500.6. $420 Billion in New Tax Increases on Families & Small Businesses. The Baucus plan includes a host of new taxes on American families and job creators. Taxes on individuals who are uninsured, taxes on employers that do not offer health insurance coverage, and taxes on health care products like wheelchairs and other medical devices and insurance are just some of the more than $420 billion in new tax increases included in the bill. At a time when families and small businesses are already struggling to make ends meet, new taxes of this magnitude would only further slow the economy and raise the cost of care for those patients who need it most.7. Lower Wages and More Unemployment. The Baucus plan would impose a new $27 billion tax on employers, including small businesses, that cannot afford to provide health coverage or that don’t offer coverage. The effect of this type of tax, similar to a payroll tax increase, would ultimately fall squarely on workers in the form of lower wages or reduced employment. In fact, the Tax Policy Center concluded that “economists generally believe that the burden of payroll taxes is borne by workers in the form of lower wages, regardless of whether the tax is levied on the employer or the employee.” The tax proposed in the Baucus plan will likely have the same effect. 8. Higher Taxes on American Manufacturers. In order to find revenue to “pay for” his plan, Senator Baucus included massive new taxes on various industry segments in the health care sector. These new taxes include $17.2 billion tax on pharmaceutical manufacturers, a $30 billion tax on medical device manufacturers, and a $45 billion tax on health insurers. These massive tax increases on American manufacturers will be passed on to American families, and they will make the cost of health care more expensive. These tax increases will also serve as a major disincentive for innovation, capital investment and job creation. With some Senate Democrats clamoring for additional – and costly – subsidies, how many more tax increases will be added before it goes for a vote in the Senate? When will Democrats reveal what other tax increases they have in store for American working families and employers?9. A Lack of Support From Senate Democrats. Key Senate Democrats have voiced concern about the Baucus plan, including Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-WV,) who said “there is no way” he would support it “unless it changes in the amendment process by vast amounts.” What’s more, Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) described the Medicare cuts in the Baucus plan as “intolerable” in remarks on the Senate floor last week, while Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) “complained the legislation would ask working Americans to commit as much as 13% of their income to buy basic insurance,” calling it a “real hit on middle-class families.” 10. Is the Baucus Plan Written in Invisible Ink? While House Democrats have marked up legislation in three different committees, the Senate Finance Committee is taking a different approach. The Committee is working off of a framework document that summarizes what they would like to do, but doesn’t offer specifics on how it would be done. That leaves big questions about just how this plan will work and doesn’t allow for a full and transparent debate on the plan. You know I enjoy watching the democratic party trot out the dim wit's like Jimmy Carter, they just demonstrate to the American people how marginalized the liberal base of the party really is. Over the weekend liberals were out defending Obama and one actually said that conservatives were trying to turn Barack Obama's presidency into a failed administration like Jimmy Carter's, oops.

Carter comes out saying the country is opposing Obama because of race, forget policy. Forget anything or everything else, its just race. Remember a few months back Carter snuck into the Gaza strip and was talking with HAMAS, waiving to the crowds, telling the media he felt responsible because American weapons were being used by Israel to kill Innocent people. Remember how it was Israel's fault, not any mention of terrorist groups, just Israel. Now after telling the world Americans are evil, he tells Americans they are evil because we oppose Obama's socialist agenda, your a racist. Well, Carter has gone one better.

His administrations National Security Advisor, Zbigniew Brzezinski has come out and told the media that the United States Air Force should shoot down the Israeli Air Force jets should they attempt to strike at the Iranian nuclear program. Now you may or may not have heard this, but that doesn't matter. Just stop for a minute and think about what they are saying here and put everything together. Israel, like them or hate them is by far our single best ally in the Middle East, no questions ask. Take Carter's comments a couple months back, add to that this moron Brzezinski and you could very easily make the argument that the "Carter" wing of the liberal base is not too fond of Israel. Obama is pressuring the Israeli's on making peace with the Palestinians no matter what. He gives speeches telling the United Nations that Israel can not continue to construct buildings on certain disputed grounds. Obama pulls the missile shield program, aimed at Iran.

My question is how much do the liberals in this country dislike Israel? How far are they willing to go in taking actions against them? I don't know, I know this, Jews in this country overwhelmingly vote Democratic, why? They supported Obama, he is throwing Israel under the bus, where are their voices now? How many house members are Jewish? I don't know I never counted. You may say why does this matter, how many are Jewish, who cares. I'll tell you why it matters, if these people will not even defend their own home land, Israel, what makes you think they will defend you from the government and health care reform, cap & trade, card check, for that matter anything the great one proposes. Jewish members of Congress won't even speak out to help defend their own families, many of whom have relatives in Israel. Beretta's Best Kept Secret - The 3032 Tomcat - One of the Best Pocket Pistols you never See

Most people know Beretta for their famous 92F/S service pistol. As soon as the US military adopted it, they became "the" 9mm to have. The Lethal Weapon movie series added to that with Riggs shooting everything that moved and never running out of ammo. Well, this pistol is the smaller cousin that no one ever sees. The Beretta Tomcat, 3032, in 32acp is the real deal in a pocket pistol.

This pistol looks kind of like a small version of the 92F. It has one feature the 92F doesn't have, a tilt up barrel. Its a really nice touch to load or unload the pistol. When I say pocket pistol, I mean pocket pistol. The pistol is only 4.9" long and just over 1" wide. It weighs in empty at 14.5 oz. It feeds from a 7 round magazine with a push button release which sometimes is hard to find on a pistol this size. The Tomcat has a safety mounted below the slide and a set of sights milled into the slide and the top of the barrel.

Some dismiss small caliber pistols as lacking stopping power. While that is a valid concern, I would rather have a small pistol than none at all. These type of weapons are for a second/back-up gun or when you can not carry anything else. The nice thing is that a small holster is available for it and it fits in your front pants pocket and does not leave an outline. Now the little Beretta fires the 32acp cartridge, not a power house to be sure. But, this is a close range weapon, at 7 or 8 feet, a couple 32acp "silver tips" would probably really ruin someones day, maybe for good. This is the part that makes the Tomcat a great little pistol, it works, really works. Pocket pistols are known for having reliability problems, regardless of caliber. One thing I can say for certain, my 2 Tomcats have fired hundreds of rounds of various ball and hollow point ammo without a hitch. Believe me this is a big deal in this size pistol.

Granted the Tomcat cost's a little more than most pocket pistols you see out there for sale. But this is truly a life saving pistol, it has to work. No it is not a great home defense pistol. No its not the weapon you want if you know your going into harms way. No you should not be clearing a house with it. But, when you can't carry anything bigger, or you need a small pistol that fits everywhere, this little bugger just might be the pistol your looking for. Its small and dependable and with a decent round can cause serious harm to someone. I would much rather have this in my pocket than a cell phone or pepper spray.

Obama's administration has found a new way to attempt to silence critics of his health care plan. Legal action. Obama has the government threatening to cut off funding and start investigations into the critics of his health care plan if they are a government service provider. This is blatant intimidation trying to silence opposition. With over $500 billion in proposed Medicare cuts proposed, Obama is desperate to stop insurance companies from telling their customers the truth. He is now threatening legal action against them to do so. What does Obama and the Democrats have to hide if everything is as they say? I don't know if you have heard but the the much criticized Patriot Act is coming up for renewal and guess what, Obama now supports it. What I am amazed by is that the liberals who supported him screamed bloody murder over the act being passed after 9/11 and now they are silent. Or is it a case were the main stream media won't cover them either?

The fact that Obama now supports three of the most controversial parts of the act, including "Roving Wire Taps", is not surprising to me and many others. I think it may shock some of the liberals who supported him as he criticized the Bush administration over it. Whats truly amazing is that according to Obama we are no longer in a "war on terror" and he has tried to not even use the word "terror" when talking. If it is the case that we no longer face these types of threats, then why would he want the Patriot Act renewed? Is he not the same community organizer that wants to ensure everybody is protected under the constitution? I think is was the ACLU and dozens of other liberal groups who came out against the Patriot Act when it was first enacted. Those groups included the National Council of LaRaza, People for the American Way and best of all the NAACP. As a matter of fact it was the NAACP president at the time who said the Patriot Act would deny basic civil rights to thousands. My how things have changed. These groups are silent now, don't you want to know why?

Obama and the left attacked Bush over this on a regular basis, now because Obama is president it must be Ok, how does that work? This is my problem with the whole deal. If you were for it in the past fine, if you were against it in the past fine. Why the change now? Obama is changing because he wants the power, period. For the left, including the ACLU and the NAACP is was a travesty when Bush was in office, but now they remain silent. When as I have said in the past, people complain about the left and liberals being hypocrites, this is what they are talking about. When it was Bush, it was an issue for "people of color" as the NAACP put it. Now its not. When it was Bush it was a "violation of the 4th Amendment" as the ACLU argued. Now its not. How could this have possibly changed, except for the fact that we are being told we face less of a threat from terrorists and how the world just loves America now because of Barack Obama. If the liberal spin is true, why do we need the Patriot Act at all?

What do China, Pakistan and Iran all Have In Common? The same Source for Nuclear Weapons - Iran had a Big Head Start

The Times of London yesterday leaked out a confidential letter from Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan, in the west he is known as A.Q.Khan, the father of Pakistan's nuclear weapons program and bomb. This letter is coming to light a couple of weeks after he has been released from house arrest by Pakistan for having passed on weapons technology to various not so nice countries, most of whom don't really care for the United States very much.

Here is what is really scary, Khan is complaining he is being made to take the fall in the nuclear proliferation controversy. Khan flat out states he was told to give the information Iran by then Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. Oops. Khan went on to state that he was told by then Defense Adviser General Imtiaz, to give the Iranians a set of drawings and some components to them as well. Further, he was instructed to furnish the Iranians with the names and addresses of the parts suppliers, which he did. Khan must have been worried because he sent another copy of the letter to his daughter who lives in London and has for years.

Now comes a little twist, China supplied Pakistan with a large amount of highly enriched uranium that was enough to produce two(2) nuclear weapons. This took place in 1982. The Chinese also furnished drawings of the weapons, they gave Pakistan 50kg of enriched uranium, and 10 tons of UF6, raw uranium. It gets better, the Pakistanis built an enrichment plant in China at Hanzhong.

So what does it all mean? It means Iran is much farther down the road than any one had been willing to state up to this point. This release follows the leaks of the IAEA report that shows Iran has the ability and know how to produce a bomb now. They lack a delivery system and maybe fuel to complete the process but they are working the problem every day. It further means that you know the White House knows of this report, and they continue to play games with Iran anyway. Obama thinks he can just talk them out of their nukes, ain't gonna happen. The Iranians have been at this a long time, at least a couple decades. It also means the Russians know what is taking place, they also know what has taken place in the past. They aren't stepping into help Obama and have made that pretty clear. Hows that hope and change thing working out for you anyway? Oh I almost forget, its China we owe $780 billion in debt to. You gotta love all that help we are getting from around the world and how the whole "soft power" thing is working.

Its pretty bad when ABC News kicks his butt on national television. This man can't even defend his own ideas because he knows he's lying. Now you know why he did not go on Fox, don't you?

Listen to this pathetic dribble closely. First he slips and blurts out the word "campaign" and then corrects himself, he does not want to be seen as "campaigning" for health care, he's above that now, just in case you don't know he is the president. Then he makes another little admission, health insurance costs went up on average 5.5% last year. Stop everything, just last week he did the famous 60 minutes interview and health insurance was going up 25% a year. Wow, that's a big drop in a week. Almost like saying we have 47 million without health care coverage and it dropped down to 30 million in just 60 days, Obama is really good, no one even knew this huge surge in health care coverage was taking place. That's really something, no one can figure out how that happened, can you? It couldn't be that your not counting illegal aliens anymore, could it? I wonder if Joe Wilson was on to something.

No, I'm not done yet, you see Senator Baucus has a neat little plan, in it he will fine up and your family up to $3800.00 a year if you don't buy government approved health care coverage. No, that's not a tax, that's a fine. Really, were do you get the authority to fine people for not buying something. That must be one of those new communist ideas Obama is peddling around, while he is campaigning for, sorry he is not campaigning on health care my mistake. While he is spreading the word, how does that sound? Anyway, to me a tax is a tax is a tax, kind of like a communist is a communist is a communist. They just seem to go together don't they!

President Obama - Give them the Troops, or Leave Now! - Obama Stalls Playing Political Games while US Soldier's Die in Afghanistan

The answer is simple, Obama is pulling a typical liberal con game. Stall, delay, deny and just flat out lie. Obama wanted the job as Commander in Chief, now he needs to earn his money instead of stalling and trying to kiss up to his liberal base and Democrats in congress. Remember this is the same person who said our goal was not to win, he doesn't even have a strategy he is just fumbling around like an idiot in the dark, but in this case he is expending U.S. military lives. If we are in a war, we are in it to win or we should not be there. Its time for Obama to face the American people, we simply can not allow the trade of lives for Obama's stall tactics for political gain.

A report that the White House was hiding leaked out over the weekend, in that report General Stanley McChrystal makes it very clear that without more U.S. combat troops, we will loose the war in Afghanistan. He believes with a great deal of certainty, that the Afghan war will deteriorate into a Taliban lead insurgency like the one that defeated the Soviet Union, after loosing thousands of their soldiers. Democrats have a bad habit of dragging the country into long drawn out wars, think Kennedy/Johnson and Vietnam. We did not fight that war to win and look what happened. We lost 58,000 lives and were embarrassed around the world. We ended up leaving our allies and friends hang out to dry. It took a great leader like Ronald Reagan to rebuild the spirit and pride in our armed forces, we can ill afford to have that type of thing happen again.

Obama needs to understand this is not Vietnam, these people will follow us home. These people will see a retreat from Afghanistan as a huge victory and rallying cry to their followers around the world. Pakistan is located just next door with nukes, the Taliban can not be allowed to operate freely in this region or sooner or later, they will obtain what they seek, a nuclear weapon and as they have made very clear, they will use it. Guess who they would like to use it against? Obama is inept and naive, he is playing with the lives of American soldiers because he can't afford to upset his base any further and they have made it clear they do not want to send more troops to the "good war" as they once called it. Obama's political agenda is all he cares about, and its stalled and he needs liberals to get it through its pretty simple. What is also pretty simple to understand is that Obama has no clue, none, as to what he is doing. This man has no concept of what to do, he gives political hacks his ideas and what he wants to happen and they craft some type of plan to try to accomplish it. The military leaders are the people in this case that we need to be relying on for advice, they gave it, he just won't follow it because its not politically advantageous to do so.

We are in a war in Afghanistan, we are not loosing we are in a stalemate and can't go forward. We are expending lives while Obama tries to craft a purely political strategy on what to do. He is so worried about his health care bill he has forgotten his first responsibility which is as commander of the U.S. armed forces. We should not loose one more life while he plays games. If we are there to win, then win, give them what ever they need to get the job done. If not, we need to leave now without spending one more American soldiers life for Obama, simply put, his grand agenda is not worth it.

The site, as the name indicates is run by woman, who are located in the great state of Utah. They offer a wide range of topics and services. They even have instructors for the Utah concealed weapons training course. The blog is full of interesting and useful content. If these things appeal to you, check them out and I think you will like what you find.

The other site, is completely different, but thats not saying its totally unrelated to the Women of Caliber. No doubt there will be plenty people who like both sites, this site has guns too, some really big guns as a matter of fact and lots of them to boot. This new site which is still testing itself will be called http://www.realmilitarynetwork.com/, as I said the site is still in the testing phase but it is up and running. If you like military topics on everything from history, games, photos, videos and breaking news this could be a great place for you to go. This site is packed full of all kinds of good information on current and past military conflicts, tactics and equipment. It features articles on just about anything military related. The graphics are good and feature things not found on other sites. Again, if military related topics is your thing, you will like this site.

When I bump into good things I try to let you know, both of these sites offer excellent information in their topic areas. They can both be entertaining and informative at the same time. So Why did Obama Skip Fox News on the Sunday Shows? - Its called Circling the Wagons

Some people think the answer is so obvious its a dumb question. Some people don't even know what I'm talking about. Some just don't get it. So which one are you? Try these reasons out for a change.

First I have to admit Obama obviously does not like Fox News, look at Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity and what has happened in the past few weeks. Look at the protests at the town hall meetings, look at the march on Washington, then we have Van Jones and last but not least the little story over ACORN. Oh yea, he just loves Fox News. This is the in your face answer, but as with everything else with Obama, you can't believe anything he is saying or doing. You need to look past the obvious answer to get to the real issues behind the scenes.

Check this out. After August Obama realized he could not swing public opinion on his health care plan with the majority of the country. He also realized he needs to keep his liberal Democratic base in line. For sure he understands conservative Republicans are not coming along for this ride and are opposing him anyway they can. Obama's speech before congress was designed to prop up or re-assure his base who he needs desperately on this issue. He wants to show Democrats in congress that he will be with them if they vote for his plans. This is also the reason he is delaying the troop increase request he received last week, he can't anger or push his base much farther, he needs them. Look at Obama's speech's, liberal safe havens, unions abound. Show up at a diner in Idaho and then I can believe he is doing true outreach, what he is doing now is not outreach its circling the wagons.

Obama shows up on ABC, NBC, CBS, hell he even made it to Uni-Vision( illegals won't get health care under my bill), so what does he hope to accomplish? Simple, persuade Democrats in congress that they can safely vote for the bill when he needs them to, even though they know the plan is not popular with the American people. Next year, 2010, the mid-term elections could be a massacre for liberals and voting for this bill will galvanize the public against them. Obama is simply playing to his base, he knows he has lost the debate so he is taking another track to get his bill passed. In order for this to work he has to convince Democrats its safe to vote for it, one way to do that is go to their districts and try to fire up the crowd or at least make Democrats think the crowd is fired up.

Obama is looking at a party line vote on health care and he knows it. He is no longer trying to sway the nation, he is trying to sway his own party. If he picks up support along the way that's fine, but he does not care any more. He wants this bill, no, he needs this bill. He has the numbers but still can't make it come together. With his leadership in question, he is simply trying to rally the troops. Going on FOX News, despite the viewer size will do nothing for him, and he risks getting questions that he can't brush off and look good doing it. The risk is greater than the benefit. The Fox viewers are for the most part not jumping on his band wagon anyway and he knows it. Remember, he needs to pass this bill over majority public opposition. Pandering to his base on a safe Sunday show is a better risk for him, really no risk at all. He most likely won't move the polls much if at all, but he only cares about the Democrats and liberals.

Like I said, when he shows up at a diner in middle America, then you can tell me how he wants to reach out to the public, until then its just circling the wagons for the impending fight he knows he must win.

The FN P90/PS90 - A look at the Weapons and thier Ammo

The FH P90/PS90 what are they, and what's the difference between the two. First the P90 is the FNH Personal Defense Weapon. The PS90 is the semi automatic version made for commercial sales. They became popular when the Star Gate sci fi series featured them on television, until then they were relatively unknown to American shooters.

Both weapons share some common features like the caliber which is 5.7x28mm. Both weapons fire from a closed bolt which aids accuracy. Both weapons feed from a flat magazine that lays on top of the weapon, they are available in either 10, 30 or 50 round versions. Both weapons come in either black or their version of green. They both disassemble the same way and they both have a nice feature which is ejecting the spent cases downward to the ground, not in some ones face. One other thing they share in common is that they both come with a variety of options when it comes to sighting systems. Also they operate the same way in that the safety/selector switch is located inside the trigger guard which is pretty fast and convenient.

Now that we have established those things we can look at the differences. The PS90 comes with a 16 1/2" barrel and weighs in at 6.6lbs. The P90 has a 10 3/8" barrel and weighs just a hair less at 6.4lbs When these weapon first hit the scene they had a certain "star status" attached to them. The only people who had one were in elite military or law enforcement units. Since the PS90 has come around the shine has worn off a little. I fired both a good deal, they are without a doubt accurate and they have no recoil to speak off. And yes like you saw on Star Gate, you can shoot them with one hand. Where real questions come in is the ammunition. FN has a deal going with Federal Cartridge Corporation for the ammo in the US.

Follow along for a second and I will help dispel one of the myths associated with this weapon. The 5.7 round in military/government form will penetrate all soft body armor up to threat level 3-A. The weapon was built around this ammunition and its capability to do that. Extremely high rates of accurate armor piercing fire make the P90 a deadly close in weapon. Here is where things depart from reality compared to truth. The SS190 and SS195 rounds are the armor piercing L-E rounds, the SB193 is sub sonic and the L191 in the tracer round. These rounds are not offered for sale to the public, and believe it or not they have a pretty good hold on it. The blue tipped SS197SR is the sporting round they market for it. It has a ballistic tip so over penetration won't be a problem. Without using the restricted ammunition you have basically a very fast, flat shooting 23 caliber-ish bullet.

The weapon was obviously designed for close in work, this is not the weapon to go to war with unless you are in a building. SWAT teams like the weapon as it is very short and very fast to get on target. It is a reliable and accurate weapon, but it has limited uses and this is to be expected as this is what it was designed for. It was never meant to be a general issue weapon. It is great in confined spaces like a car, again this is what the weapon was made for. The big joke years back was that the MAC 10 was the perfect weapon to assualt a phone booth, this is just an updated version with a little better range and control. If you need a weapon that you can sling under a coat or jacket, this could be the weapon for you. It carries a ton of rounds in a magazine which you can see into so you know when your running out. Its accurate and fast to get into action. Just remember what this weapon is and is not and you should be fine. It is fun to shoot but a little exspensive to play with on a regular basis. The weapons themselves, the PS90's anyway are bringing around $1400.00 or $1500.00 right now. But things change so fast you never know what they will cost tomorrow.
